Day 3 of #31DaysOfGraves - Glass Scotland has been endowed with a remarkable inheritance of of 18th century #MementoMori symbol laden monuments, but many are now fragile and endangered. In 2008, this early example of an Adam & Eve stone in Lyne Kirkyard was restored and placed in a glass case.

One of the first grave monuments that spoke to me stands in the little cemetery down the road from the farm where I grew up. This is one of my favorite cemetery in autumn photos, too. Day 2: urn. #31DaysOfGraves
Zinc obelisk monument surmounted by an ornate urn topped with a zinc eternal flame. The urn stands against a vivid blue sky. A tree with orange leaves is in the corner of the photo.

I spent one of my most memorable Mother’s Days with my family exploring the cemetery in Dublin, California. Such a lovely place. Day 1: flowers. #31DaysOfGraves
Black granite monument marked Dublin Cemetery illustrated by a man pushing a hand plow surrounded by bright orange nasturtium flowers.

No artist ever just wanted the end result. Every artist of any kind wants to see the product of their labours, the expression of their dreams, their struggle realised. The process is the art, the end result is the prize. Anyone who thinks any gen-ai is art fails to understand this simple truth.

A book is not a product like the shelf upon which it sits. Art is not a product like the frame in which it is displayed. If you think of stories or art like that sort of product, if you use AI to "create" it, you are not a storyteller. You are not an artist. This is not an opinion. It's a fact. 5/6

Did you know... magnolia evolved on earth about 95 million years ago! Magnolia is so old in fact that it pre-dates the existence of bees and butterflies, meaning they relied on beetles to pollinate in their early days.

For #Caturday: a poignant photo by Paul Koudounaris of a beloved pet's tombstone. Despite popular belief, the cat's name was not Dewey. This was the surname of the cat's family. "'He was only a cat,' but he was human enough to be a great comfort in hours of loneliness and pain."
An old tombstone that reads: DEWEY 1898 - 1910. "He was only a cat" but he was human enough to be a great comfort in hours of loneliness and pain.
