The former New Bridgegate Church on Dixon Road on the Southside of Glasgow. Designed in a Scots Gothic style by Thomson, Sandilands and MacLeod, it was built in 1922. It's now home to the Govanhill Workspace. #glasgow #architecture #govanhill #church #architecturephotography

The heavily European-influenced basilica church, our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek, St Margaret's, Newlands, possesses an apse at each end of the building, the ceilings of which are decorated with exquisitely colourful mosaics. In the western apse this was by sculptors Galbraith & Winton, in 1921 🧵1/2

At our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek, St Margaret's, Newlands, Glasgow, the floor has a marvellous mosaic. It was laid in 1958 to celebrate the church's 50th anniversary. The mosaic shows children, plus their playthings, and represents children from past congregations. #MosaicMonday

Sitting on a prominent elevated position in Glasgow’s south side, is our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek, St Margaret's Newlands. It was prolific Scottish architect Peter MacGregor Chalmers who was responsible for the design of this Romanesque revival church, its vestry and church hall. 🧵1/2

Great to hear there is a promising future for the wee kirk in the North East village I grew up in. My family attended an Episcopal church further up the coast, but we did drop in for the occasional service here. A generation of villagers I once knew well when I was a kid are laid to rest here.

Out and about for Glasgow Doors Open Day yesterday, and very much enjoyed the tour of Glasgow Cathedral. The Great West Window in the nave, designed by Francis Spear and installed in 1958, tells the Creation story, and features a depiction of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

Crossmichael Parish Church - the main body dates from around 1750, but the distinctive tower is possibly early 1600s. It sits on a small knoll and has probably been a site of worship since ancient times. #blackandwhitephotography #Scotland #Galloway #SouthernScotland
