There is absolutely no viable path forward for this country that doesn’t hinge on extreme accountability for everyone involved in this administration. They’re going to whine about politicization and credulous media types will echo them, but the thing is, they’ve committed tons of obvious crimes!

Today, I resigned as Vice Chair of the ODP Pride Caucus. The state party expects us to be a sales team, censoring our voices when we beg candidates not to trade on trans lives. I am still a Democrat, but I will not value party approval over true, defiant advocacy. Full text below. 👇
Part 1 of an open letter of resignation by Arienne Childrey, stepping down as Vice Chair and member of the Ohio Democratic Party (ODP) Pride Caucus. She states that party leadership treats the caucus as a recruitment and sales team rather than a representative body. She cites an incident where the ODP censored and denied permission for the caucus to post a letter by two trans leaders addressing harmful comments made by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton. The State Party Chair reportedly called the letter an "unwelcome distraction," which Childrey notes demonstrates how little party leadership values the voices and dignity of LGBTQ+ Democrats.
Since that decision, every Caucus plan, every potential post, and every path forward has been filtered through a lens of strict compliance and ODP approval. That may very well be the party's rule, but following those rules right now is a dereliction of our duty to the LGBTQ+ community.

For me, any rule that silences advocacy for the trans community during this time is an unjust rule, and I see no obligation to follow it. In alignment with the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in his Letter from Birmingham Jail:

“One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.”

We are living in incredibly dangerous times for the trans community. We are in an era where the GOP has so thoroughly weaponized trans lives that even some formerly self-professing allies within our own party have fallen prey to the rhetoric. Looking at the national trend towards Democratic anti-trans triangulation, as well as our own internal conversations, it is clear to me that this shift is much more than a simple coincidence.

We have to speak up—loudly, strongly, and unapologetically—or I fear what our 2028 choices may look like. The ODP would like everyone to believe they are a "big tent" party. However, their successful efforts to silence even the Pride Caucus—even in cases where we are simply begging our candidates not to trade on our lives for perceived electoral advantage—has proven otherwise. The tent hasn't gotten any bigger; it has simply shifted, leaving many trans individuals, progressives, and allies out in the rain.

I will continue to advocate, organize, and fight for our community with everything I have. But I can no longer compromise my own moral principles by remaining part of a caucus that appears more interested in party approval than in true, defiant advocacy.

Sincerely,
Arienne Childrey

Fed. judge grants a habeas petition for immediate release (after 13 months) of an LPR who ICE was holding w/o bond bc even after ordering a hearing "Petitioner’s uncontested evidence on the systematic bias of the immigration judges is compelling." storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
When an individual is at risk of indefinite detention, due process requires at least more than skimming the record for the first time at a twenty-eight minute hearing. However, as Petitioner does not press this argument, the Court need not base its decision on this issue. Therefore, this Court holds that the immigration judge’s decision failed to comply with this Court’s previous order and due process. The evidence before the immigration judge on both the flight risk and dangerousness determinations was plainly deficient of standard for clear and convincing evidence. 3.4 Petitioner’s Case Warrants Immediate Release Petitioner argues that he should be released because “[r]emand for a second bond hearing . . . would not adequately remedy the government’s constitutional violation” and “credible evidence suggests that the immigration court system across the country is systematically rigging bond hearings against noncitizen detainees.” ECF No. 24 at 19–20. Respondents do not argue regarding the specific remedy proposed. Because Petitioner’s uncontested evidence on the systematic bias of the immigration judges is compelling, the Court agrees. Therefore, the Court will order that Petitioner be immediately released.

Not just impeachable. Impeachment, both pres. and agency heads, is the only option. It's impeachment or nothing. Courts won't stop it. Other tools are impotent. Put them on trial the only way you can. Even if you can't get 2/3, use process as punishment. Make it miserable and costly. It can be done.

Our statement regarding MLS NEXT Pro and their handling of a recent disciplinary issue:
During a recent MLS NEXT Pro match, a male head coach committed two deliberate acts of physical abuse and sexism against a female official -- squeezing her hand and refusing to let go after being told to stop three times. This physical intimidation was compounded by a demeaning, sexist remark to the official: "Don't forget, this is a man's game."

MLS NEXT Pro investigated and responded with a two-game suspension and other non-suspension discipline.

U.S. Soccer policy states a “forceful grab” like this requires a minimum three-game suspension. Acts of discrimination also require a minimum three-game suspension. MLS NEXT Pro’s own manual also states that coaches are held to “a higher professional standard than players.”

The League’s response falls drastically short of the right message to the participants, the referees, and the public. It needs to be reevaluated.

Women make every level of this game better. They should not have to endure intimidation or degrading comments to prove it. Our female officials have proven their excellence on the world stage. They deserve the same respect, dignity, and safe working environment as every other official.
