There are NOT machine-made clothes. If there were, your clothes would be made in the country you live in (where the customers are), or in China (where machines are cheap). They’re made in Bangladesh or India or Indonesia because that’s where the LABOUR is cheap. Your clothes are made by people.
Joyce Carol Oates says: “This is why Al-generated romance novels make perfect sense. Formulaic fiction doesn't need to be written by hand, so to speak; what difference does it make if a machine "writes" it? There are machine-made clothes & there are custom-made clothes. They appeal to
different consumers.“

NO. STOP THIS. This is EXACTLY the kind of deliberately disingenuous BULLSHIT that the Leave campaign pulled last time. The country has ABSOLUTELY NOT made it clear what option he should take, because the country DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THOSE OPTIONS ARE. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE TERMS AND TRADE OFFS ARE.

Funny. When Cameron introduced the triple lock I remember everyone on the left understanding very clearly why it was a cynical bribe to Tory voters and would not amount to a hill of beans if public services like social care were cut to the bone. Some of the same comrades are now big fans. 🧐

Clear that Burnhm will not get a fair shake at this, with both Chris Mason and Robert Peston presenting this as "abolishing" the earnings link instead of being honest about the earnings link being linked to an average rather than annual earnings figures. Blatant misrepresentation.

Not entirely clear to me why the BBC News should be devoting chunks of time to coverage of the execution of a woman in Tennessee. Actually, sorry, it is entirely clear, because the BBC has forgotten that it is, first and foremost, a UK channel and not an American one.

The BBC news summary this morning went seamlessly from "critics warn PM scrapping triple lock would be electoral suicide" to "critics ask if PM has nerve to make tough decisions" and I don't think it's a particularly pro Burnham stance to suggest he might not be the entire problem here.

I don't love dunking on folks but it's so fucking funny to me that Trump was convicted of 34 felonies 2 years ago, faced no punishment, and went on to win the presidency a second time and journalists are still like, "hmm, I have an inkling that maybe he believes he's above the law for some reason."
Post from NYT reporter Eric Lipton

"What an odd moment in United States history.

A U.S. president is running an overtly political campaign advertisement, right before midterm elections, paid for by the U.S. government.

Trump appears to believe he is immune from any kind of legal limit."

Fascinating how the Mail engineered this "Burnham bottles it" front page splash by repeatedly claiming (against clear briefings from No 10) that there would be a snap election, and then eventually deciding to take the PM at his word that an early election is not on the cards, and so he's bottled it?
