Sad to see that despite being a decade late to the game the Jaguar 01 has learned none of the lessons about non-tactile steering wheel touch controls and screen-only climate control etc.

Get a search warrant for this company's entire client base because the only people who would want to conceal the fact they're recording you are actual perverts and sex criminals. You could solve thousands of crimes in a week.

It's not a desert though. You just don't like the stuff. That's fine. But it's not *bad* simply because *you* don't like it. You're not the only audience member.

Like you said, you don't watch it, so I'm not surprised you struggle to think of any that matters. I'm not going to start arguing show-by-show with you.

but it's the cohesive output that brings the value and often some of the most important stuff turns out to be stuff that gets minimal funding and zero commercial interest, but which needs the rest to provide the infrastructure to even make it possible.

News, TV and radio are not easily replicated by commercial! GB News isn't an alternative and it loses a hundred million a year! Much like with the ENTIRE GAMUT of the BBC's output from Radio to TV to Podcasts to Streaming to Orchestras, *SOME* stuff could be replaced by SOME commercial providers,

The point is that I don't use that thing, and I am pretty fucked off by how some of it is done, but I can still see the reasons for universal funding, because I (broadly) believe in a baseline state provision rather than libertarian individualism.

Sorry at what point do the government feel the need to do something about BBC funding, or are they just going to watch it be salami-sliced to extinction?

Not sure why anyone bothers with anti-AI activism when the most effective strategy would be to just point as many microphones as possible to its most vocal champions.

Of all the "it's not technically a genocide" arguments that could have been chosen, this is surely the stupidest, right? I mean, we all have eyes and ears, and we all watched what senior members of the Israeli government actually said on this? Netanyahu, Ben Gvir, Smotrich, Herzog, Katz, Gallant...

I've said it repeatedly on this thread.

Martin Greenaway @mgreenaw.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
One of many such matters that I can't see being solved while we are a nation of small minded bigots led by the nose by captive press and gamed social media. Brits by-and-large woefully ill-equipped to face these challenges and nobody in charge is showing the remotest indication of doing anything.

Martin Greenaway @mgreenaw.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
This is the third long reply thread in which you've reformatted my argument and presented it back to me. Yes. You're right. We're in agreement.
110
Martin Greenaway @mgreenaw.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Yes. I don't think we have politicians with that courage yet, and the worst enemy of getting there is probably a tie between the right wing media ecosystem that will bellow "betrayal" at them for even the slightest movement towards cooperation, & rejoiners insisting it's all just a fingersnap away.

Martin Greenaway @mgreenaw.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

(We've also recently found out that this focus group stuff has been getting done against fake AI focus groups, for what it's worth, so not even real people's opinions)
010
Martin Greenaway @mgreenaw.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Absolutely not. We live in a country where nothing that hasn't been internally focus-grouped five times sees the light of day. I can't see this kind of real discussion happening until we stop chasing public opinion and start having actual leadership again.

Martin Greenaway @mgreenaw.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
