As many others have said today, it shouldn't take someone's death to address safety concerns that have been widely known for years. Nearly every time a pedestrian or cyclist is killed you'll find a history of prior crashes in the area. These deaths are preventable.
The project follows years of concerns about traffic and street safety in the area, intensified by Gag's death.

It's honestly comical to watch Bass' campaign try to blow this story up when Bass clearly had a longstanding, very cordial relationship with Jacobs and thought there was nothing wrong with being seen together even after he was "credibly accused of sexual harassment" all the way back in 2020
KAREN BASS
* FOR MAYOR *-
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, October 6, 2026
Contact: press@karenbass.com
ICYMI: Photos With Rick Jacobs The Raman Campaign
Doesn't Want You to See Photos with Raman and Sex Harasser Rick Jacobs Were
Mysteriously Deleted From Her Campaign Website LOS ANGELES — Nithya Raman's campaign quietly removed photos of Raman and Rick Jacobs, a former City Hall staffer who has been credibly accused of sexual harassment, according to reporting_by_LA Material. Jacobs cost taxpayers $1.8 million when the city settled
an LAPD officer's sexual harassment lawsuit against Jacobs. "Nithya Raman is a hypocrite. She worked at Time's Up, an organization dedicated to
addressing sexual harassment, and in 2020 called the allegations against Rick Jacobs 'deeply upsetting,'" said Bass campaign spokesperson Alex Stack. "But now that Jacobs's client has poured $3 million into supporting her mayoral campaign, Raman is more than happy to cozy up to someone with a deeply disturbing history. Her values are clearly up for
sale, and she doesn't have the character or moral judgment to be mayor."Tomo
@tomoki_chien
O... In case you need a reminder of the (hilarious) absurdity of politics: After the Bass campaign flamed Raman for being "happy to cozy up" to Jacobs following our story this morning, somebody sent me this photo of Bass
and Jacobs, apparently from 2022.lamaterialnews But at an event back in
November (before Raman had jumped in the race), Bass herself
warmly greeted Jacobs.— GETTY HOUSE GUEST: Political consultant Rick Jacobs attended an exclusive post-inauguration party for Bass at Getty House Sunday night, according to several sources, rankling those who’ve watched the harassment allegations against Jacobs engulf City Hall.

Jacobs works as a consultant for the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters, a union that was heavily involved in supporting Bass’ mayoral campaign. The allegations against Jacobs have stalled former Mayor Eric Garcetti‘s political career, with the U.S. Senate still not having voted on his July 2021 nomination as U.S. Ambassador to India. Jacobs has denied harassing anyone.

Jacobs didn’t respond to a request for comment. When asked by a reporter about Jacobs’ attendance, Bass did not directly respond, saying she was focused on homelessness.

Garcetti didn’t attend the Getty House party and had already moved out of the house by Sunday, said his representative Alex Comisar.

Protected bike lanes make everyone safer. This corridor only cost $500,000 and it was paid for with Measure M return money. "No fatal injuries have occurred since the improvements were completed." Seems like a worthwhile investment to me
One Year Later, Hollywood Boulevard Bike Lanes See More Biking & Walking With Minimal Driving Delays

Despite initial controversy, driving times increased by just 77 seconds across the 2.1 mile corridor during rush hour

Biking increased by up to 66%, pedestrian traffic increased by up to 44%, and there have been zero fatal injuries along the project corridor

HOLLYWOOD, CA — One year after the opening of 2.1 miles of parking-protected bike lanes on Hollywood Boulevard, new data shows more people are biking and walking along the corridor, while sidewalk riding has dropped significantly and no fatal injuries have occurred since the improvements were completed.Since the project was completed, LADOT data shows that:
Travel times across the entire corridor increased by approximately 30 seconds during off-peak periods and up to 1 minute and 17 seconds during the PM rush hour. Travel-time data was measured using anonymized GPS metadata from INRIX.
Biking increased 66% near Western Avenue, with an average of 408 daily riders, and 51% near Vermont Avenue.
Pedestrian traffic increased 34% near Western Avenue and 44% near Vermont Avenue.
Sidewalk riding decreased 61% near Western Avenue and 100% near Vermont Avenue, giving pedestrians more space on sidewalks.
There have been six collisions resulting in severe injury: two involving a vehicle and pedestrian, one involving a vehicle and bicyclist, two involving vehicles, and one involving a motorcycle and vehicle.
Ridership and operational performance on Metro Lines 180 and 217 have continued to increase since April 2025.
