The Zach Bryan Appeal to Heaven/Free Palestine tshirt outrage is rooted in people’s inability to understand context and symbols. An Okie co-opting John Locke’s statement about resisting governmental tyranny makes more sense than him associating it with white Christian nationalism.

The LA County Probation Department is under a DOJ settlement agreement. OIG highlighted this incident in its recent compliance report. A probation officer put pressure on a youth's head and neck, a policy violation, but the facility director found no violation and that the force was reasonable.
A youth and Deputy Probation Officer (DPO 1) began arguing about the location of the
youth’s personal belongings.41 The youth stood and approached DPO 1. The youth
attempted to swing his hand at DPO 1. DPO 2 and DPO 3 assisted DPO 1 and secured
the youth and forced the youth down on a couch. DPO 1 applied pressure to the youth’s
head and neck area while DPO 2 and DPO 3 applied handcuffs on the youth.
Probation Department policy permits the amount of force that “an objective, similarly
trained, experienced, and competent youth supervision officer, faced with similar facts
and circumstances, would deem reasonable and necessary to ensure the safety and
security of youth, and staff.”42 Department policy prohibits applying pressure to the head
or neck area. The video recording clearly shows DPO 1 applying pressure to the head
and neck area with his hands and possibly his knee. The Video Review Form indicated
that the facility Director did not find any policy violations and believed the use of force
was reasonable. The Office of Inspector General requested that this use of force be
referred to IAB for review for investigation and the Department referred the case as
requested.

two doses of lethal drugs and still alive. heartbreaking and barbaric
A lawyer for Christa Pike said executioners have administered two syringes of lethal injection drugs to Pike but that she remains alive and breathing.
Kelly Gleason, an attorney for Pike, said she heard this from another of Pike's attorneys, Randy Spivey. Gleason said Spivey was in the death chamber with Pike but stepped out to call Gleason.
"She's alive and snoring," Gleason said.
Another attorney, Amy Harwell, is driving an emergency motion to the Tennessee Supreme Court, Gleason said.
"She needs immediate medical care," Gleason said.

You know that sad story about the Portland Police K9 killed a day before his retirement? It sounds like it was the cops who shot and killed him. katu.com/news/local/p...
The shooting happened just outside of the Chestnut Tree Inn, where an employee who wished to remain anonymous told KATU he saw the moments K9 Kylo jumped into action and when the shots were fired.
"The dog was biting [the suspect] and he was on the floor and struggling with the dog, and [police] said, 'Don't move, don't move,' you know," the employee said. "That's all they said. Then they start shooting, maybe like six to eight shots."
"Maybe like three police officers shot him and the dog also got shot," he continued.
