IF the strike aircraft were driven out of RAF Fairford by an enemy threat, then that enemy has enjoyed more success than the Luftwaffe during the whole of the Battle of Britain.

I love these books - they were a secret language between me, my dad, my brother & my brother's friends - I feel ridiculously nostalgic seeing them again. Lucky whoever finds them in Secondhand - hope you enjoy the fish!
Angled view of Douglas Adams’ five-book Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy box set, standing on piles of secondhand books at Chapters. The bright yellow slipcase displays the series title, a blue towel and a “42 anniversary collection” badge. All five dark blue book spines are visible.
Front view of the yellow Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy slipcase by Douglas Adams, resting on stacked secondhand books. Dark blue lettering reads “The Complete Collection”, with a circular “42 anniversary collection” badge above and a rolled blue towel pictured below.
Close-up of the five numbered Douglas Adams paperbacks in their slipcase: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy; The Restaurant at the End of the Universe; Life, the Universe and Everything; So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish; and Mostly Harmless. Their dark blue spines have colourful lettering and Pan logos, with stacks of books and the shop interior blurred behind them.

Great moments in Scottish engineering history: James Watt tries to work out how his phone attaches to his selfie stick.
Statue of James Watt. In his right hand he holds a telescopic stick with a frame at the top; in his left he holds a flat object about the size of a large smartphone. He is scowling at the possibly-not-a-smartphone as if he is tempted to yeet it into the sea. On that basis, it probably _is_ a phone.

This famous 13th-century manuscript painting illustrates the climax of the Battle of Stamford Bridge. Created around 1250–1260 and attributed to the chronicler Matthew Paris, it depicts the Norwegian King Harald Hardrada wielding a massive battleaxe. True to medieval artistic traditions, the figures wear anachronistic 13th-century chain mail and armour rather than accurate 11th-century equipment, reflecting the era of the artist rather than the event.
