#mothiduk A little more information on the caterpillar. It has been immobile about 16 hours since I first saw it. It is 35mm long and I'm now wondering if it is an Eyed Hawk Moth. There is a willow in the garden which has suffered in the drought - I wonder if it has gone looking for food.

#caterpillar - hawk moth I presume, but which? It seems to have too many 'eyes' for Oleander

House martins, I think, but absolutely wonderful. They have nested for years at our primary school. I must check if they have arrived.

Persistent chap. He's been knocking on the window for over an hour.

I have caught glimpses before, but repositioned the camera and caught this the other night.

I was heading home after my morning walk and turned a corner to be surrounded by an explosion of crows. There must have been a dozen and for a moment I was surrounded. It was uncanny and made me smile. (Image: Joel Askey / Shutterstock)

Day 3 of Badger-geddon (I'm assuming it's a badger by the sheer clumsiness). The photograph was Day 2, today he/she broke into the birdfood bin and helped him/herself to sunflower seeds and dried mealworms.

A photograph showing wooden staging collapsed by (presumably) a badger and broken and overturned pots and plants all around.

@simonforstroud.bsky.social I have been watching footage of the tractors in London this week as they blocked roads in a planned protest. Are you able to explain why climate activists were jailed for not dissimilar actions, but no action is taken against the tractor drivers?

Tractors blocking London street six abreast.

Roger Hallam—founder of Extinction Rebellion—and Daniel Shaw, Lucia Whittaker De Abreu, Louise Lancaster and Cressida Gethin. All sentenced to prison for planning a protest.

Beautiful sunrise on a cold, tear-producing, morning. As I reached the end of Field Road, a cacophony of rooks erupted all around, but unseen. It was slightly uncanny - particularly as I started my annual read of Susan Cooper's #TheDarkisRising this morning.

It was very dark with low cloud over Whiteshill this morning as I set off on my walk. The picture is from years ago, but the impression this morning was the same.

A birthday sunrise this morning. What a difference from yesterdays low cloud and wind-driven drizzle.

Pre-dawn taken through trees and rooftops. The sky fades from coal grey through rose to yellow.

I seem to be on a run of ghost stories, but it's not deliberate, they were next on my To be read list. Finished the unsettling Naomi's Room by Jonathan Aycliffe this morning. Now reading Michele Roberts' The Walworth Beauty.
