In spite of everything that has followed, blowing up the JCPOA remains the most destructive Trump policy in the long run (matched only by PEPFAR cuts).

I suspect that this is a common knowledge problem too, partly. If much of the mobilization has come from the bottom up with little elite buy-in, then it is hard to "see" what is happening collectively.

Also this notion that still persists that state owned companies are somehow inherently better to passengers, somehow fairer Look at SNCF! It's 100% state owned, and outright passenger hostile! OK, the profit goes back to the state, but it's not as if it provides a passenger friendly outcome!

The issue here is a shift to a kind of post-Blair/post-Corbyn pragmatism situated in an ideological space of "markets where they work best/the state where it works best" requires an underlying vision of what an ideal balance between state power and market forces should be within a European society.

the PRC's perennial problem is that a big corruption crackdown does nothing to alter the dynamics (opaqueness, hierarchy, lack of any outside audit) that creates corruption in the party or the PLA to begin with, so we see this endless cycle.

If true, we might as well bury the concept of rule of law conditionality. The EU cannot keep letting itself be blackmailed by Orbán into unfreezing funds withheld over rule of law violations in exchange for lifting his veto, unless it truly wants to lose all credibility as a guardian of EU values

In terms of political representation, workers critique forms of political inequality and political exclusion: Politicians, as part of the upper class, only serve the upper class; and politics is a self-referential sphere closed to non-experts.

also that allowing the debate on regulation to be dominated by 'we must worship the coming machine god/cripple the coming machine god' guys is useless and counterproductive, and that the actual regulatory steps should be tackling stuff like 'how do we stop old people from being conned'

The old parliament had 250 members, so this is smaller. Its practical function may well end up being similar: a controlled but somewhat socially representative body to coopt notables and other figures of influence, to debate, approve, and legitimize decisions originating mainly from the presidency.

This lawsuit is brutal. One of the exhibits is the letter Universal sent to Midjourney, including a quote from a 2022 Forbes interview that I bet midjourney regrets
Universal did not permit, authorize, or license Midjourney to copy or use any of Universal's copyrighted works in connection with any version of its Image Service or to otherwise exploit Universal's works at any time. You acknowledged as much in a September 16, 2022 Forbes interview in which you confirmed that Midjourney never sought any copyright holders' consent to use or exploit their works:
Did you seek consent from living artists or work still under copyright?
No. There isn't really a way to get a hundred million images and know where they're coming from. It would be cool if images had metadata embedded in them about the copyright owner or something. But that's not a thing; there's not a registry. There's no way to find a picture on the Internet, and then automatically trace it to an owner and then have any way of doing anything to authenticate it.

We can now bring you some lines from a press conference held this morning by Israel's far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.

He says the little amount of food entering the Strip will not reach Hamas: "The bare minimum will reach the population - simply so the world doesn't stop us and accuse us of war crimes."

"What will enter in the coming days is very little: a few bakeries distributing pita bread to people, and public kitchens providing one daily serving of cooked food."

Civilians, he says, will receive one pita and a plate of food - "that's it".

He adds that Israel's military is "destroying everything that remains of the Strip", describing the territory as "one big terror city".

He says civilians will be moved out of combat zones as the army leaves "no stone unturned".

"The population will reach the south of the Strip, and from there, with God’s help, to third countries," he says.

As we've been reporting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel will take control of all of Gaza.
