One family near me has three cars on the drive. Three dodgy number plates, three sets of dodgy tinted windows. An illegal tyre can get you a £2500 fine and points, but the identifying mark being incorrect is less than a parking ticket!

Walk from Manchester Piccadilly much improved with the closure of Lena & Paton street. Two minor roads that drivers use to rat run to the NQ, avoiding main roads. Manchester Piccadilly sees 27m annual users & they shouldn't have to dodge cars walking to the station. Hopefully this becomes permanent.

William Lever was born in Bolton on this day 1851. He founded Lever Brothers with his brother in 1886 to manufacture Sunlight Soap. They created a works and ‘model’ village at Port Sunlight in the Wirral, but the company later became implicated in forced labour in the Belgian Congo.
