And as the First Amendment to the Constitution extols, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." This is not to denigrate US military chaplains, but they already have the Armed Forces Chaplains Board which advises the secretary.

It's true that there's not much structural antisemitism in North America anymore but you know I'm not sure if it matters that the guys coming through the synagogue door with an assault rifle are in line with a structural system of oppression.

there are moral arguments against the death penalty in its ideal form but in real life you never need to get there. the prior question is "can the state be trusted to end the life only of the rightly convicted without torture?" and the answer is no

The tortuous, botched execution of Christa Pike is truly horrifying. And while it feels unique in some ways, in reality it is also only the latest in a history of botched executions going back years — YEARS — in numerous states. Please know: this is the reality of the death penalty in this country.

The reality is that there is no non-violent way to non-consensually end a healthy human being's life. The effort spent to fool death penalty advocates into thinking they are participating in something clean and surgical makes an already barbaric spectacle disgustingly hypocritical as well.

It is not permitted to request jury nullification during a trial but it is permissible to discuss it abstractly. Jury nullification is the synthesis of two rules. First, the prosecution cannot appeal a jury verdict of not guilty. Second, a jury issuing a verdict of not guilty need not explain itself

Providing chairs when job duties don’t really require standing is a textbook example of a reasonable accommodation. Taking away chairs, thereby forcing disabled workers to put in formal requests to aggressively hostile employer, can be a pretty effective way of pushing people out of their jobs.

They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.

Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me—and I welcome their hatred.

Schmitt: Who knew jack Smith was a Caitlin Clark fan? We had information he was at a basketball game. There was only one NBA game that night which is why I asked him if he was in Atlanta. He answered the question. That's what these hearings are for. You ask questions, you get answers. Smith has perjured himself before, but he says he's at the game. Maybe he's a Caitlin Clark fan. We'll accept that.

He knows how to win. He knows how to fight.
And he knows how to message.
And no one will out work him. Regardless of whether he wins the Democratic nomination in 2028 he will make an impact on the race. You can be sure of that. Don't take your eyes off of him. At the minimum, learn from him.
