The Tower of Hercules lighthouse, A Coruña, Galicia, Spain.

Originally built by the Romans in the late first century , it was renovated in the eighteenth century and is still in active use.

It is a National Monument of Spain and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 27 June 2009. Standing 55m tall (34m being the original Roman masonry with a further 21m added during the renovations), it is the second-tallest lighthouse in Spain, after the Faro de Chipiona.

Sandy Hook Lighthouse - NJ. Built in 1764, it is the oldest operating lighthouse in the U.S. - guiding ships into New York Harbor. It was a military target during the American Revolution. It is now a National Park and open to the public for tours and recreation.
