The haunted Forest of Rothiemurchus in the Scottish Highlands shelters the cursed grave of 14th-century Clan Shaw chief Seath Mòr Sgòrfhiaclach and the ruins of Loch an Eilein Castle.
Seath Mòr's Ghost is a tall, fearsome chieftain and is said to haunt the deep pinewoods, appearing to wanderers who stray too far off the path. Folklore warns that fleeing from his spectral challenge leads to doom, while standing your ground and accepting causes him to vanish in peace.
Seath Mòr’s resting place in the old kirkyard of St Tuchaldus features five cylindrical "homing stones" on top of the tomb. Legend says they are guarded by Bodach an Duin (the Goblin of the Doune), a spirit that punishes anyone who touches or steals the stones with sudden death or severe misfortune.
A heavy wrought-iron cage was placed over the grave in the 1980s to stop visitors from tampering with the stones after centuries of local eerie occurrences and ghostly sightings in the surrounding pinewoods.

Our photograph shows the side of an old, imposing church or chapel, viewed from a low angle beneath a deep blue sky.

The property is a large medieval moated and fortified manor house, despite being called 'castle'. It's the home of the Fiennes family...yes the family that includes actors and an arctic explorer. It's also been used as a film location for Wolf Hall, Sense & Sensibility, The Crown, Shakespeare in Love, and perhaps the most exciting, Three Men and a Little Lady
(1987), amongst many others.
The day was searingly hot so windows were open everywhere.

You see here a beautiful herring gull standing on a rock. The rock itself is surrounded by other rocks. There are also some red flowers and green bushes to see. This rockformations is part from the enclosure from small penguins in the bird park Avifauna in Alphen aan de Rijn. This park does a lot for protecting birds world-wide. Due breeding programmes and education.

What a phenomenal original Rock image to work with and thank you my friend for that, such a pleasure to edit from☺️

If we look at the original capture the obvious answer is to reveal something beyond the mist or to evaporate that mist to show something different. I chose the latter.

I took the original image into Lightroom and separated the sky using a linear mask as to isolate that one area.

I then changed colour and lighting values and went into the effects tab to change texture, clarity and some de hazing on the clouds.

I then did a general enhancement of the whole image and finished with a slight vignetting and my usual white border frame.

Unlike last week where I tried to create a calming nighttime star filled sky, this week I wanted to create an ominous storm front, revealing itself as the misty conditions dissolved.

This atmospheric photograph was taken at Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin, Ireland, and has a dark, monochrome appearance that gives the scene a timeless, almost haunting quality.

Dominating the foreground is a magnificent, mature evergreen tree.

Its enormous, deeply textured trunk rises from the grass on the right before dividing into several substantial branches.

One particularly large branch sweeps dramatically across the centre of the image, while countless smaller branches and dense, feathery foliage spread outward to form a natural canopy over the cemetery.

The tree feels ancient and imposing, standing like a silent guardian over the graves below.

Beneath it, a paved pathway curves through the cemetery. A simple wooden bench sits beside the path, offering a quiet place to pause and reflect.

Beyond the tree are numerous ornate Celtic and traditional grave monuments, including several tall Celtic crosses decorated with intricate stonework.

In the background stands an impressive Gothic-style cemetery building, with pale stone walls, pointed arched windows and decorative architectural details.

The sky is heavily overcast, with dramatic clouds visible between the branches and monuments. The subdued sepia/grey tones enhance the sense of age, stillness and remembrance.

Our tree is undoubtedly the focal point. Its immense size, twisting branches and dense canopy contrast beautifully with the delicate stone crosses beneath it, creating the impression of nature sheltering and watching over generations of the departed.

Finally, our picture today is finished with a simple white border frame.
