Trump's White House & fawning hacks here don't really care about the 0.001% that the BBC gets wrong. They care about all the stuff it gets right.

Bank of England warns of growing risk that AI bubble could burst

They absolutely lost their shit when some trans folks wrote on statues with chalk... The BBC certainly didn't talk about statues being checked, they led with the Home Secretary calling it 'disgraceful'.

The reporting on Charlie Kirk’s killer in the UK & US highlights again how fundamentally ill equipped mainstream media is to report on political violence in the digital age. They do not know anything about online far right meme culture & it’s starting to do real harm. #r4today

Really hope that there’s going to be specific space carved out in this for comics, because we know the impacts they can have. Unless we see funding for comics research, materials for teachers about using comics, money provided for comics advocacy, this momentum is not going to last.

My latest cartoon for @newscientist.com
Two figures walk along a corridor lined with complex machinery.

The worker says "Congratulations, sir! The most intelligent machine ever created is ready to change the world. Ten billion dollars well spent... What shall we ask it to do? "

The billionaire replies "That's my business, not yours. Close the door on your way out."

Now alone with the machine, the billionaire asteps closer and asks quietly "Can you Make people like me?"
it says "No"

AI has an environmental problem. Here’s what the world can do about that.
The sprawling data centres that house AI servers churn out toxic electronic waste and are voracious consumers of electricity, which in most places is still produced from fossil fuels.
