For any organisation with data protection policies, having everything your employees are looking at- all confidential files, password entry fields, financial info, contracts, personal info - being sent to a foreign country by smart glasses wearers should absolutely be on the organisations radar.

It’s good that more people in power are waking up to the need to take adaptation to climate impacts seriously. But it must not be at the expense of every possible action on mitigation. As the UK and Europe endure more record high temperatures, these words from @james-bg.bsky.social come to mind.
Here's what those who argue you can 'just adapt' to the climate crisis don't get: you don't just adapt once; you have to keep adapting, over and over again, until the global economy either reaches net zero emissions or civilisation collapses - whichever comes first.

Congrats to Julie K. Brown! She was awarded a #Pulitzer Prize special citation today for her groundbreaking reporting in 2017 & 2018 for the Miami Herald exposing Jeffrey Epstein's systematic abuse of young women and the justice system & powerful network of associates that protected him for years.
A powerful narrative portrait of Julie K. Brown, the Miami Herald investigative journalist celebrated for her "Perversion of Justice" series, which exposed the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein and led to her 2026 Pulitzer Prize special citation. Brown sits in the heart of a newsroom, leaning forward with her hands clasped over the back of a vibrant lime-green chair. Her expression is steady and resolute, a faint, knowing smile playing on her lips. She has shoulder-length, strawberry-blonde hair and wears a crisp, white short-sleeved linen top. Her look is punctuated by bold, artistic accessories: a long necklace featuring large, multi-colored geometric beads and matching statement earrings. The background is filled with the tools of her trade: Dell computer monitors and large wall-mounted screens displaying blurred news segments, including one featuring her own likeness. The composition is balanced and centered, capturing a mood of quiet authority and tireless determination. This image stands as a tribute to Brown’s historical significance in journalism, marking her as a champion for victims whose reporting forced a global reckoning on power and systemic failure.

Low-carbon electricity sources grew faster than demand in 2025, pushing fossil fuels into decline— Solar and wind energy have grown quickly in recent years, but global electricity demand has grown faster.
Bar chart of change in global electricity generation by source from 2024 to 2025 where low-carbon sources met all of the 850 terawatt-hours increase in total generation. Solar and wind provided the largest increases (solar about 636 TWh, wind about 204 TWh), with smaller rises from nuclear and other renewables and a modest increase in gas, while coal and oil declined (coal about minus 67 TWh, oil about minus 12 TWh). We are here
Screen shot from link in quoted post:
Never before have our society’s most powerful players assumed that the primary impact of their own conquests would be to render the world itself unliveable for everyone else. Nor have they ever before had the technologies through which to programme their sensibilities into the very fabric of our society. The landscape is alive with algorithms and intelligences actively encouraging these selfish and isolationist outlooks. Those sociopathic enough to embrace them are rewarded with cash and control over the rest of us. It’s a self-reinforcing feedback loop. This is new.
