On the morning of January 7, 2026, Renee Nicole Macklin Good (“Renee”),
a thirty-seven-year-old United States citizen, poet, and mother of three, dropped her six
year-old son off at school, drove home through her own south Minneapolis neighborhood,
and stopped her car in the middle of Portland Avenue. Federal immigration agents were
operating there. They were masked, as was their practice throughout Operation Metro
Surge. Renee honked her horn to warn her neighbors. Her partner got out and began to
film. Renee stayed behind the wheel. She was not the target of any investigation, and she
was breaking no law that any federal officer had authority to enforce. Numerous vehicles,

Got my CT scan scheduled to check out the nodules on my adrenal gland. TIL that if they look weird, it's surgery time. They don't biopsy them until they're out of your body. I'm really, really hoping that I don't need surgery on yet another of my organs. Would be cool if my guts just worked!

I definitely overdid it on Saturday even though I maybe walked a mile. I'm used to my body hurting when I push too far, but this feels like it's on a cellular level. I thought I was just dehydrated, but ultimately I think my doctor was right to yell at me about doing too much till my iron is stable.

Now that we're back in our hotel in Duluth and have charged up my phone a bit, whomever of y'all that said to head to the west side of the Tofte/Lutsen mountains for fall colors was absolutely correct. Leaf colors were amazing.

When I woke up this morning I really just wanted to stay holed up in the bedroom alone with the cats all day, but I'm glad we went through with our little adventure. Being outside in weather that's good for my body and exploring a place we love with our kid was the right choice.

One of my favorite spots in River Falls. It's kind of an IYKYK place. I couldn't make the steep climb down or up so here's a photo my kid took.

A photo a lot of graffiti on the underside of a bridge with concrete supports. There is natural rock almost completely up to the bottom of the bridge with only like a 3-ft gap, so you have to duck down under each section of the bridge. The entire underside is covered in graffiti. Large tags, small marker graffiti, lots of this was there 15 years ago

Resting while the boys hike a bit further and circle back, listening to ducks and swans and a hawk, surrounded by late season wildflowers. If this isn't nice, I don't know what is.

I love Minnesota. I have nothing but respect for how hardcore we are about apple innovation. I don't know if I just got a bad one, or what, but I honestly don't get the hype about First Kiss. I couldn't eat more than two bites, it was like eating air and water contained within a Red Delicious skin.
