There are so many people on Earth that still basically live in the woods. There are people who will never interact with the internet at all. Of course they can't be inherently changed by AI, unless it messes up their environment. That's why the question feels like such a softball, for me.

Every single rural person I have talked to about it is concerned about two things: jobs and the environment. Small scale. Those debates are happening, I'm sure, but it really is as easy as that for people that don't even get reliable cell coverage.

I've been thinking a lot today about how I grew up in an area that still had dial up until 2007, and how people assume human experiences are universal if they've never spent a lot of time in a truly rural area. Rural people aren't having these sprawling intellectual debates about AI.

I do think that the long-term effects will have big impacts on society, I believe it will change our environment figuratively and literally. Good or bad, it's undeniable. But I just don't think it can inherently change us. It's not universal! I grew up so rural, my mom had dial up till 2007.

Absolutely, I've gained so much by rereading things at different points throughout my life, too! I definitely didn't get all I needed to from a lot of things before I had more life experience. But this whole line of debate about whether AI inherently changes who we are really feels like a softball.

At 15, I already assumed I would have to live through being occupied by my own government, even though it was purely theoretical. I always assumed that this AI push was inevitable. I find it handy to have already had the dozens of hours of debate and theorizing well in advance, on both issues.

Most of my core beliefs and principles were very well formed by the time I reached adulthood, and I can't imagine anyone finding a new angle that would shake my core beliefs or make me reconsider siding with humanity. Someone has to because machines sure can't!

This! Some of us already went through all of that as a child/teenager/young adult because we read a ton of science fiction. It's a thought experiment that a lot of us have already done multiple times, decades ago. My position on it hasn't shifted since I was maybe 15.

It may not feel like it today, but tis the season! They haven't had my go-to pain relief strains in stock for a long time, so I'm giving this a go. I'm just grateful to have a vape that is already labeled and very distinguishable from the rest of them. My own labeling system is not great!

I've been thinking about you a lot, because I have a cousin who is very people-pleasing, and a big family visit was foisted upon her this past week (including dealing with my parents) and nobody in the family really sees how much she bends over backwards and what she sacrifices to be a good kid. ❤️

The two are intrinsically combined, for me. I tend to only get tattoos to represent really important life changes/events, so it's an experience that I have something to show for forever. The ritual of the tattoo process is important to me, not just the art.
