Tired: It doesn't matter if a TV show has continuity errors because it's just made up. Wired: It doesn't matter if a TV show has continuity errors because *I have a system*.

If the bbc pretended it was gonna be a pro rowling documentary then pulled off an "aha it's actually about online radicalisation by the far right" I would regain respect for them. But like you i do very much doubt it's that.

Weirdly I was ALSO thinking about medieval buffy elements in response to the same prompt! bsky.app/profile/loui...

Was watching Buffy’s Anya backstory episode. Friend asked why I sighed. “She’s not of a sufficiently high social class to have domesticated rabbits that far north in Europe in that century, but the writers couldn’t know, the paper was only presented at a conference yesterday.” Accuracy is fleeting.

I have decided the day that I will finally feel like a full adult is when I, down the line, realise Greta Thunberg is middle aged. But not til then.

I did myself a psychological favour by NOT clicking on the link. An unclicked link is a beautiful thing.

It’s worth adding: Some traditional children’s publishers were trying graphic novels for kids at this time (at least this side of the pond), and claim that they didn’t work because the market wasn’t ready yet (whatever that means). So I hope they’re now re-looking at that in the wake of everything*.

I worked in a bookshop at this time, and it was so, so, SO exciting because we were getting stacks of Jimmy Corrigan, Persepolis, etc. and they were selling so well. It felt like a proper moment. But then it just fizzled.

However, Ragnar Lothrbok was eaten by vapires before he did anything cool. And you'll notice there is ZERO mention of Ragnar Lothbrok in the buffyverse.

Oh, there was Viking society, they just didn't make the westward expansion moves of those in our timeline due to distractions from vampires/trolls etc. They DID make it east though as that's an easier voyage.

Ok I am seriously slipping, I had to look up which episode this is from. It's Checkpoint, if you're wondering. Which has my favourite Willow and Tara scene that's not the OWMF one.

Leif Erikson actually DID try to sail west at the "correct" time but he was a vampire and there was a mutiny and someone opened his coffin so he died when the sun hit the deck.

OK so this doesn't annoy me so much as provokes a headcanon in me. At one point Buffy talks about Vikings going to north america "in the 1400s". So, headcanon: history in the buffyverse is largely the same EXCEPT for scandinavia and the extreme north, due to the impact of vampires in the long nights

Adorable AI Puppies By me and @nadinescholtes.bsky.social Read more cartoons! —> #Policartoon Support the cartoons! —>patreon.com/barry

TRANSCRIPT OF CARTOON
PANEL 1

A young man sits on a couch, smiling at a video on his phone. A black cat sleeps beside him.

MAN (thinking): OMG, this puppy video is so cute!

MAN (thinking): Like!

PANEL 2

The man suddenly looks anxious, one hand pressed to his face.

MAN (thinking): But wait—the last time I “liked” a puppy video, it turned out it was AI.

MAN (thinking): I don’t want to accidentally support slop stealing from real puppies.

Nearby, the black cat holds up a bottle of Xanax.

PANEL 3

Extreme close-up of the increasingly frantic man. Thought balloons circle around his head:

But it’s adorable!
Fake!
Cute!
But it’s fake.
Maybe it’s fake.
The poster says it’s not AI.
Exactly what an AI would say!
Was that tongue too perfectly pink?
Was there an extra claw?
Fake!
Cute!

PANEL 4

A bearded man approaches, holding out his phone for the first man to see. The first man recoils in horror.

BEARDED MAN: Honey, you look stressed! Relax and watch this puppy video.

MAN: AAAAAGH!

CHICKEN FAT WATCH
In panel one, a goldfish is half out of its aquarium, picketing with a sign reading, ON STRIKE FOR BETTER PROTECTION FROM CAT. A framed portrait of Lucy from Peanuts is on the wall.

In panel two, the cat offers the stressed man a bottle labeled XANAX.

In the final panel, the goldfish’s abandoned sign now reads, OH WELL NEVER MIND. The black cat is contentedly eating the goldfish.
