“Everybody’s dead, Dave.” “Edward the Confessor’s dead?” “Everybody’s dead, Dave.” “What about Harald Hardrada?” “He’s dead, Dave. Everybody’s dead, Dave.” “Not King Harold?” “Yes, Dave. King Harold’s dead, Dave. Everybody is dead, Dave.”
A post from BBC Lincolnshire with the headline “Digital reconstruction reveals Norman Conquest man’s face”. The digital reconstruction is an older, balding man’s face against a black background, and looks not unlike Norman Lovett playing Holly in Red Dwarf.

Judi Dench on working with Frances Barber
As for Frankie's gift ... The play, among other things, is a discussion about unconventional sexual acts and so Frankie Barber, as a first-night present, bought me a double-ended dildo. It was about two metres long and all bendy - you could wear it as a scarf, which I did once when the company gathered for director's notes. But I had no idea where to keep it. I couldn't take it home, where my young grandson often came to stay, so in the end I hung it over Diana Rigg's portrait in my dressing room. My reasoning being that any visitors would be so arrested by the beautiful image of Diana, they wouldn't notice this massive penis dangling down each side of the frame.
But then one day I knew the cleaner had spotted it because when I arrived in my dressing room for that evening's performance, it was coiled up on my make-up table like a Cumberland sausage.

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...
A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is. Science news! Discovered in Scotland in 1984 and described in 1990, Westlothiana lizziae—nicknamed “Lizzie” for its lizard-like appearance—was considered one of the earliest known reptiles. Now, a new look inside the 345-million-year-old fossil is revealing a very different story. 👀

The Royal Navy’s Steam Gunboat (SGB) was an attempt to combine the attributes of MTBs and MGBs in a larger vessel which could help counter the threat of German S-Boats. Although useful, SGBs were produced in very limited numbers and had a number of limitations which reduced their effectiveness. 🧵1/8
