On 16 September 1982, Lebanese Phalange militiamen allied with Israel stormed into the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Beirut and massacred over 3,000 civilians. Israeli troops surrounded the camps, and allowed the militias to kill for days. 44 years later, no one has been held accountable.

I wish the kids could experience Airports like they were pre-9/11. I’ve been flying by myself since I was 5 (thanks, divorced parents!), and you could just walk up to the gate with whoever is dropping you off. They could even meet you at your gate instead of the curb! It was simply magical.

My husband used to work for Riverkeeper and loves to point out combined sewage overflow sites… when it rains more than a few inches the sewage still goes directly into the Hudson River and levels of ecoli and other stuff are off the charts…
