Association of ERC Grantees: "We propose a three-step approach: 1) administrative costs should be comprehensively assessed, 2) they should be proportionate to their actual benefits, and 3) whenever possible, they should be radically reduced." 👍 aerg.eu/news/Simple%...

DEEPSEEK-R1 runs even locally on my laptop, answering advanced physics questions like: Why does a satellite slow down if you accelerate it? Amazing! What does that mean for science, industries, humanity? Given this new efficiency, where will we be in 1-2 years? BTW: PHI4 is also a blast...

Impressive work. Would be interesting to see how patterning changes in the presence of advective flows.

Cartoonist @anntelnaes.bsky.social quits the Washington Post after a cartoon mocking Post-owner Jeff Bezos is refused. Cartoon for @trouw.nl: www.trouw.nl/cartoons/tje... #JeffBezos #WashingtonPost #StandWithAnn #pressfreedom
Cartoon showing Jeff Bezos walking into the office of the Washington Post, followed by two servants pushing wheelbarrows filled with money. The slogan 'Democracy Dies in Darkness' lies discarded on the ground, while a new slogan 'Whatever You Say, Mr. Bezos' is being installed above the door. A cartoonist labeled 'Ann Telnaes' walks out through a side door with a sign on it that reads 'Critical cartoonists and journalists - exit here'.

This circuit can be used to propagate a change in cell fate in 2D in a wave-like pattern… And also in 3D! In this animation, a spheroid of “sender” cells (red+green=yellow) is fused with a spheroid of “transceiver” cells. Activated transceivers become green.

Mix two motors of opposite polarity with microtubules and they will partition space ! Microtubules will get organized in polar and active barriers, sorting the two motors in separated domains, leading to the emergence of a new type of patterns. #morphogenesis doi.org/10.1073/pnas... (1/n)
