After new polling shows Democrats in all six of the first 2028 primary states overwhelmingly in support of sanctioning & cutting weapons to Israel, Hakeem Jeffries elevates one of the most pro-Israel Democrats in Congress to lead the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee:
Moskowitz personal account tweet:

Thank you to
@RepJeffries
 and
@RepGregoryMeeks
 for this important responsibility to help lead Democrats policy in the Middle East and North Africa on the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Quoting of his official House account:
I’m honored to be named Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa.

At a moment of enormous change across the region, I’ll work to strengthen America’s relationships with Israel and our Gulf allies, expand regional peace, advance American diplomacy, and ensure our foreign policy is grounded in strength, security, and reality. I’m ready to get to work.

In 1872, the Chicago Evening Post published an absolutely brutal editorial mocking people who objected to sharing public spaces with Black people. Still some dated language but a remarkable piece. “Hire a carriage and you can sit all alone by your own sweet self for $2 an hour.”
1872 article reading, in part: “AYou do not like, reader, to sit by the side of a well-behaved negro in a theatre's dress circle? Very well; take a box. If your antipathies are not worth $5 extra, they are not very important.
You do not like, fastidious madam, to sit by the side of "some offensive creature" in the car? Very well; hire a carriage, and you can sit all alone with your own sweet self for $2 an hour. But you cannot expect to charter and monopolize a Persian heaven on wheels for five cents, you know. You object, dear sir, to risk the chance of meeting… Fred. Douglass, Alexander Dumas, Minister Bassett, John Jones, or Jared Grey? Very well; you have an inalienable and God-given right to object. You can avoid these people by having your meals served in your room. Isn't your pet aversion worth a dollar to you? ... To insult people because of their color is bad enough; but it is mean and cowardly to make them pay the expenses of their own crucifixion. “. Likely by George Mclellan or his brother.

Our hearts break with each new emerging detail from the deadly, hate-fueled shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego.
Text-based graphic containing a statement from Nexus: "Our hearts break with each new emerging detail from the deadly, hate-fueled shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego.

We join the community in mourning the murdered victims, including security guard Amin Abdullah, whose life was brutally taken as he defended the house of worship and the young children at the school inside.

May their memories be a blessing.

We are also deeply disturbed by the anti-Muslim rhetoric and Nazi imagery found in the suspect's car.

And, as in so many times in the past, it is a reminder that our destinies are tied together: those who target Muslims often hate Jews and vice versa. Coalitions are not just an ideal; they are a necessity for all our safety.

Hateful ideologies have deadly ends. We must work together to stamp them out, lest they fester and metastasize into devastating attacks like this."
