Daisy’s house was set on fire. Twice. She had to move multiple times. The police force of the town was intimidating her and her family. Only due to outrage online was a special prosecutor put on the case, which resulted in 2 years probation for one of the boys involved.

Daisy’s entire town turned against her after she was drugged, raped (which was recorded on a cellphone & shared), & left unconscious & nearly naked in the snow in her front yard in the middle of the night. The case against her assailants was dropped. One of the boys was related to a state rep.

I think so much about Audrie Pott & Daisy Coleman, the subjects of a 2016 documentary, Audrie and Daisy. These two girls were SA’d by their peers and had harassment campaigns ran against them. Audrie ended her life 9 days after the assault. Daisy did the same, 6 years ago, 8 years after her assault

It took me eight or nine months to realize my ex had raped me. It was an incredibly painful and slow process of remembering, recontextualizing, and talking it out in therapy. It took even longer to say the word “rape” publicly, and I still often don’t. It is NORMAL for survivors to need time.
