My photo shows a tiny bronze figurine of a mouse playing a Roman tuba, a long, straight bronze trumpet with a flared bell, used by the Roman military (though not exclusively). The mouse is seen in profile, standing facing left, head tilted upwards playing the trumpet which is held in the mouse’s right paw - right paw not seen in photo. It covers its left ear with its left paw, perhaps the sound of the trumpet is too loud! The figurine is 3.81 centimetres tall. The bronze mouse appears dark grey in colour. Displayed on a thin vertical metal stand on a black plinth against a beige surface and dark brown backdrop.

Small bronze mice statuettes were a very popular motif in Roman times, often attached to oil lamps and lampstands, a reference to the problem of mice gnawing at wicks and drinking lamp oil, a nuisance documented in various ancient texts. They’re often comically shown undertaking human activities out of proportion to their small size, which invoked the Hellenistic and Roman literary and artistic traditions of an ‘inverted world’, as discussed in an article by Philip Kiernan ‘The Bronze Mice of Apollo Smintheus’.

You cannot cure autism any more than you can cure your parents or that your cat licks its anus. As someone who is most definitely on the spectrum (hi I process satellite imagery and have a Special Interest in ancient Egypt), I can only hope the genocidaire RFKjr gets what he deserves: solitary.

I vastly prefer interfacing with creationists compared to ancient-astronaut people because the latter is like “I don’t understand big rock so aliens” and the former is like “I must model the water column so fresh and saltwater animals can both survive the Great Flood somehow.” Some baseline effort.

Here is the full suspension letter from UGent that was sent to Nathan Cofnas, it shows ample reason for his suspension and potential termination.
