Have now slowly re-read the ruling, and it is even more damning than at first reading. The ruling pretty much sets out Manchester City was fraudulent on a systemic long-term basis. Not just mere non-compliance, but ‘concealments’ and ‘disguises’. Also some MCFC witnesses were ‘dishonest’.

The UK is in the state it is in because of voting choices from 1979 onwards. Anyone campaigning to maintain the pensions triple lock whilst continuing to call for cuts to benefits, allowances, and grants that they themselves enjoyed (but stripped from those that followed) are walking on thin ice.

IF the Fairford Five were just in the wrong place at the wrong AND the US and UK *have* been tracking an active cell in the UK plotting an attack then that would imply that the latter have been given some very loud signals that their operation has been compromised. That would seem less than ideal.

The suspects in the RAF Fairford case have now been bailed - and it’s been confirmed that there were no viable bomb making substances in their vans. This is, undoubtedly, a very odd case here - and it has by and large shown the dangers of speculation, especially as per the below.

One could argue that, were this plot an action by a nation-state, e.g. Iran in retalition for the base being used to attack them, or a false flag (Russia, Israel, the US themselves) then it wouldn't really fall under the counter-terrorism remit. Best to wait for the investigation to conclude

Final point on this. There’s nothing new to HO wanting lower numbers and HMT wanting higher numbers. Was ever thus (eg May vs Osborne). What is more surprising is that Mahmood never gets asked about this and the relative silence of Govt ministers (other than Rayner) on positive side of immigration.

Forest were deducted four points for one minor FFP issue (delaying the sale of Johnson by a couple of weeks in order to maximise profit). That should be the yardstick for punishment per charge if the football authorities wish to maintain any kind of integrity in themselves or the game.
