It's Bruce Campbell's 68th birthday — which brings back memories of one of the features I'm proudest of having shepherded into reality during my 13+ years editing Science Fiction Weekly, Blastr, and SCI FI Wire — Bruce Campbell's Soup labels the right size to be printed out and curled around a can.

A stack of labels for Cream of Darkness Soup, Bisque o' County Jr Soup, Autolycus Cheese Soup, and Gumbo Ho-Tep Soup. Unfortunately, ever since the sites I worked on revamped into a Syfy url, the full-size ones no longer seem to exist online.

LLMs impress the writers who do not want to write, the coders who don’t want to code, the researchers who don’t want to research, and the lawyers that don’t want to actually understand case law. Those that desperately tell you how powerful AI is and that you simply must use it are looking for you to validate their own laziness or distaste for effort, and those who are impressed with LLMs’ outputs tend to be people with low standards.
