My understanding is that the evidence shows LLM-based assessment gives better 'marks' to LLM-written things (essays, grants etc). So by choosing to use LLM-based assessment, UKRI will likely penalise every academic who actually writes their own grants unassisted. Grim.

Labour and Burnham have been silent on capping political donations while Reform gets £72 million from Farage's billionaire mates. We need @zackpolanski.bsky.social in Parliament to hold Labour to account, not another Labour backbencher to wave through Burnham's policies without scrutiny.
A quote from Rachel Millward, Deputy Leader of the Green Party. It reads, "Reform is a vessel for the super wealthy. They will always act in the interests of the super wealthy. Labour could have stopped this years ago by capping donations. Burnham promised to do it then backtracked. Will he now admit this was a mistake? Burnham and Labour have been quiet on a donations cap for the last 24 hours. The public needs to know where he stands."

The nightingale hospital in Birmingham cost £106 million and didn't treat a single patient. We had no trained staff, because for decades we prioritised tax cuts for "wealth creators" (aka wealth hoarders) over investing in our country. Hospitals. Schools. Roads. Prisons. This is the result.

The incessant tide of outrages from team Trump makes it easy to forget how damaging each has been. So, between now and the midterms, I’m going to revisit some key issues. Today: how a new US gov website promotes rhetoric by European right wing groups. edwineisendrath.substack.com/p/public-dip...
In Trump’s hands, American public diplomacy has rapidly turned its back on freedom in favor of supporting autocratic political parties. Tools developed over time to win people around the world over to the ideals we cherish are now put to darker use. Voice of America and Fullbright scholarship are defunded. Taxpayer money instead built a portal so that neo-fascists in Europe can listen to would-be Hitlers in the AfD.
