I thought Palworld looked so gross and plasticky on fancy hardware but seeing my fiancée play it docked on a steam deck with lower res and simplified/washed out textures, it almost looks like a late ‘90s PC game.

Platforms have telegraphed digital-only for years and publishers make a lot less money on disc sales than digital. Petitions won’t work b/c companies have every incentive to end discs and erode digital ownership. Our only recourse is to rally for better competition. Now is the time for a GOGbox...

An admirable goal for Okunari and it’s nice to see an official effort towards preserving its back catalog, technically (and who knows how much source code still exists?). I think contextually it is important that Niantic Games was sold off and acquired by Scopely who are owned by Savvy Games which is an investment branch of the Saudi Arabian government. This was a strategic investment to get access to the data by a foreign government with no ethical concerns.
