Back on my Ethanol soapbox - Even under some generous assumptions, electrifying just 3.6% of the current gasoline-powered fleet would free up enough land to power EVs replacing the entire gasoline fleet with solar.

California bill Newsom just signed: “any time the gas service line for an individual home needs to be replaced, the utility will ask that customer whether they’d like a bunch of money — likely between $10,000 and $15,000 in incentives — to electrify instead”

This is the legacy of GOP "leadership" in one of NYS's largest counties - the board of elections is underfunded, its employees overworked and its commissioners underpaid compared to their counterparts in other counties in the state. By about half. Fortunately, there's a new Dem legislative majority!
Three graphs showing that Onondaga County underfunds its board of elections, at about half the rate per voter compared to other counties in NY.

We can't know how this year's pattern of drought and monsoon disruption will fall geographically - it may be similar to 1876-1878, it could be slightly different. What we do know is that the communities least responsible for supercharging El Niño are the least resilient in dealing with its effects.
