Anemia is LATE STAGE iron deficiency. Our bodies preferentially use iron to make red blood cells over everything else so all these other functions are affected before your hemoglobin drops.

Exhausted? Irritable? It could be undiagnosed iron deficiency
Around a third of women of reproductive age could have low iron. But doctors don’t routinely screen for the condition, though it can lead to anemia. Symptoms include exhaustion, headaches and more.

Gaza is starving. Where are the American Jewish leaders?
A fear of being labelled antisemitic still deters American Jews and Jewish institutions from taking a position that is morally correct.

Cancers can be detected in bloodstream three years prior to diagnosis
Detection of cancer before a clinical diagnosis could give patients and caregivers more time for intervention and may lead to better outcomes because tumors are more likely to be curable

Appeasement feels like a demoralizing, soul-sucking, harm-increasing response, & poor strategy as well. I don’t see an appeasement-based path out for Columbia. What an opportunity for a strong, wealthy, leadership-oriented institution to publicly articulate, affirm & recommit to mission & values.

I’m not a big fan of state-level removals of local officials (see: Florida). But I liked the idea someone on here suggested: have the City Council pass some sort of no-confidence vote, and have them ask Hochul to remove. Create a norm of non-unilateral state action, based on local demands.
