Open admission that Reform policy hinges on democratic backsliding at a scale incomparable to anything ever seen in this country before. By the sounds of it, some sort of hybrid regime might suit his interests much better...
Source: BBC News

Farage says Reform UK will stop the small boats by declaring a national emergency, forcing parliament to sit 24 hours a day, six days a week, until its legislation is enforced.

He is now threatening peers in the House of Lords, saying he will pack the upper chamber with hundreds of new peers to push Reform UK's plans through.

If needed, Reform UK will call a referendum on the composition of the House of Lords, he says.

He's now threatening the civil service, saying they will be replaced if they do not comply with the policies of a Reform government.Source: The Telegraph (Solely because they've done the work of typing all this out)

Reform UK has pledged to stop judges leaning on "outdated" legislation like the ECHR and sack civil servants who sought to frustrate its policy proposals.

In his conference speech in Birmingham, Nigel Farage said: "Ultimately it is Parliament who makes the law and we'll remove the ability of judges to lean on outdated conventions like the European Convention on Human Rights which will be gone, gone.

"Parliament makes the law, judges interpret the law, we will do whatever it takes and perhaps have to consider how judicial appointments work in the future."

Mr Farage said it was the job of the Civil Service to deliver on its policies, adding: "If they try to obstruct they will be removed from their posts and replaced by people from outside, from the worlds of business.

"This plan is bold, it's ambitious, but it's much needed. Britain is broken and only Reform has the courage, the conviction and the foresight to fix it and I really and truly believe that, I really do."

Found an additional graphic that gets even more of these quotes together. I've kept "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" pinned above my desk since I first started studying evolutionary biology as an undergraduate. So relatable to get extremely frustrated with your study system.
Image of Charles Darwin quotes, with the recipient of the letter and the date the letter was written. He said "I hate every wave of the ocean" to W.D. Fox on 15 February 1836, "Oh my God how I do hate species and varieties" to J.D. Hooker in 11 March 1858, "I am very tired, very stomachy, and hate nearly the whole world" to Thomas Huxley on 10 September 1860, "I am very poorly today and very stupid and hate everybody and everything" to Charles Lyell on 1 October 1861, "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" to John Lubbock on 3 September 1862, and "I am languid and bedeviled and hate writing and hate everybody" to J.D. Hooker on 23 June 1863.

Artists have always loved to sketch! Sketch of a sparrow from Egypt dated c. 1479–1458 BC. Some 3,500 years ago in Egypt, artists used flakes of limestone as sketchpads! MMA excavations 1922-23, Deir el-Bahri. 📷 The Met www.metmuseum.org/art/collecti... #Archaeology
Met Museum photo of an Ancient Egyptian artist’s painting of a swallow on a flake of limestone, dated to the New Kingdom, Dynasty 18, joint reign of Hatshepsut and Thutmose III, c. 1479-1458 BC.

The sparrow stands in profile with head to the right. It is delicately painted with a pinkish body. The outline and details are highlighted in a reddish/brown pigment. Its legs, eye, and beak are painted black. Limestone flake dimensions Height 6.6 cm x Width 10.6 cm.

This may have been a practice drawing of the sparrow hieroglyph which was used for words meaning ‘small’, ‘poor’, or ‘bad’.

Egyptian artisans who decorated tombs and temples made practice sketches on flakes of limestone which are known by egyptologists as ostraca (singular: ostracon). Sometimes the drawings were used as a template when transferring an image to the wall of a tomb or a temple. Limestone flakes were readily available for this purpose as by-products of the construction of temples and rock-cut tombs. A number of ostraca were recovered at Deir el-Bahri during the 1922-23 MMA excavations.

UK declares Colorado potato beetle eradicated after two-year surveillance effort
The UK government announced the successful eradication of the Colorado beetle, a major potato pest, following its discovery in Kent in July 2023. There were no further finds over two years, leading to the declaration of eradication status. Continuous vigilance from farmers and the public, alongside effective biosecurity measures, were crucial. Officials urge ongoing reporting of suspected sightings to prevent future threats to crops.

Conclusions from my first roll of film: 1. I need to start cleaning my cameras before I shoot them so that the emulsion isn't scratched to high heaven 2. Black and White is way easier than I expected and it always looks cool 3. Pushing Ilford HP5+ 1-2 stops is way cooler than shooting at box speed
High contrast black and white film photo shot on Ilford HP5+ 400, pushed 2 stops. A crumbling leather football lies on a wet country lane, in front of a background of a modest 2 floor cottage, flanked by stone cobbled walls that lead towards a driveway, in which a small family car lies

First little batch for the @shittychallenge.bsky.social #ShittyCameraChallenge, images taken w/ the 12MP of the Olympus X-925, then further enshittified + desaturated for this round's theme with my tiny thermal printer 📷🎨📸
Display of 6 photos, printed onto monotone thermal paper.
Row 1, left to right:
1. A union jack flies in the wind, attached to a lamppost by only one ringlet, folding inwards on itself. The image is rotated 90 degrees so that the flag hangs downwards.
2. A similarly oriented black plastic bag, torn to shreds, hangs from a tree branch. Other branches surround it in a fractal-like pattern
3. More tree branches, taken with a strange looking digital filter built into the camera, which makes the branches appear white, and outlined in black ink.

Row 2:
4. This consists of two identical copies of the same image, one slightly peeking out behind the other, though mostly obscured. A union jack, with its colour drawn back on in marker, hangs wrapped around a lamppost, with a barren tree filling the background. In front of the flag is a 20mph speed sign, its red circular border also enhanced with pen.
5. The opposite side of that scene, the same lamppost and sign with a pure white sky background. The flag lies over the top of this side of the sign, making it completely unreadable to the eye. The camera's flash is reflected blindingly, allowing the numbers on the sign to be easily read, as if the flag were a translucent overlay.
6. A cropped version of image 5, showing only details of the sign, is glued nearby.

The second row of images is glued onto a continuous black background. Behind this, and the top row of images, is pure white.
