This function was missed for ~50y b/c T7 biology was mainly explored in lab strains w/ few defenses. Our infection assays in natural isolates show strong phenotypes for T7K; it allows T7 to infect strains that carry diverse systems but share no common one, through a brute-force deactivation strategy
