UPS woke me up at 6am-ish singing the song of its people. Back 2 hours later. Off again about 3 hours later. Between outages I got a Ali delivery including some USB - 20v and 12v cables. As there’s no Fortnite to interrupt, decided to swap 12v networking gear from wall-warts to USB. Seems to work.

btw i think the reason i like magical sigils and worlds based around them is because magical sigils are actually real. you open up a satellite LNB and what you find is shapes wrought from metal to manipulate unseen forces. you can't tell me they're not magical sigils
picture of the inside of a satellite low-noise block downconverter (LNB), the circuit in the focal point of a satellite TV dish. this one's a rectangular metal case with inside of it a printed circuit board full of gold-plated traces. many have strange shapes you wouldn't find in other electronics. scientifically you might call them microstrip filters, but really they're nothing more than a well-understood magical rune

We're hiring a new product security lead for Wikipedia! It's a new lead PM role that would steer our security engineering team and how we go about this work here at the Wikimedia Foundation. AND: it's fully remote, and open in a good number of countries. job-boards.greenhouse.io/wikimedia/jo...
We are hiring a Lead Product Manager to bring their experience dealing with modern threats to bear on Wikipedia’s security strategy in the AI era, and to drive a strong security culture throughout the Wikimedia Foundation and movement.

Though this is a senior role, prior experience in a product manager role is not required. This position is intended to bring strong technical and security experience, including some familiarity with AI in a security context, into a role focused on product and platform strategy.

This position could be a good fit for a candidate with both strong technical skills and strong communication skills, who is interested in transitioning from engineering work to a strategic role.

This role is an opportunity to be at the center of a pivotal time for Wikipedia, as AI is not only changing security, but also how people access knowledge online. Responding to these changes requires us to plan ambitiously and act decisively, while working closely with the communities whom the project serves.

Photo of a CRT monitor next to a Super Famicom console with an XBAND modem inserted. The monitor's screen shows the XBAND's email composing screen. The message being composed has the subject line "I'm writing from a snes :00" and is addressed at a user named "フフフ".Screenshot of the email composing screen from the previous photo.Screenshot of the bsnes-plus Super Nintendo emulator open on Ubuntu. The game loaded is identified as "X-Band Modem BIOS (J)" and the emulator window shows the XBAND email inbox screen. There are two emails: one from user "mrmxy" with the subject line "i'm writing from a snes :0" and one from "System" with the subject line "Welcome!!" Behind the emulator window is a terminal window showing the emulator's log (indicating emulated modem activity) and a file explorer window with some Super Nintendo ROMs and save files. The bsnes-plus emulator's window now shows the content of the email, which reads (beside a profile image of an ape with sunglasses):
