Labour needs to be clearer that it will rip up any agreement this govt signs during election with zero compensation. Counterparties need to be clearly warned. Weakness on this invites LNG gamblers to frame deal simply for a payout. #nzpol www.stuff.co.nz/politics/361...

Simeon Brown says controversial LNG contract could be signed during election campaign
Labour leader Chris Hipkins says it would be “recklessly irresponsible” for the government to to sign a binding LNG contract before the election.

Yep. the limit is approx $700M for all special needs grants per year. Was up to $960M in year ending June 2023, so that's a reduction of more than a quarter (and approx a third, in real terms).
a line wobbles up from june 2021 to June 2023, and then freefalls to end of 2024, where it flatlines til now. At an eyeballed approx $175M per quarter

They are rationing grants to a fixed budget - look at that blue line. Look at Auckland (on it's ass) and Christchurch (ticking over). Same story in both places. really? They've got a cash limit target - it's obvious.

And the truth is, the reason they’ve removed benefits from 18/19yos is •they screwed the economy •overall benefit costs are way higher than their “savings” • and the debt level is increasing • and they’re panicking • and MOAR CUTS is all they have the imagination for.

Yep. This whole first paragraph, and the first sentence in the second one. Problem is Labour also fall for this “Surplus at all costs bullshit”. We need louder alternative economic voices showing voters there’s other ways to run a country. Because this approach simply isn’t working.
Ask things like, " why are we so worried about our national debt, when it's
actually low by international standards?" Or, "is the debt curve our biggest
concern if half a million of us now need food banks every month....?" Or,
"this is our plan to change the way we price energy.."
But Labour popped out for a packet of raspberry vapes back in 2023, leaving
Winnie as leader of the opposition, and have only just snuck back in the
room now. Meanwhile, NZF have been so busy rarking up the Youtube
Boomers, so even if they do suggest breaking up the gentailors no one
 takes it seriously.
