As we enter the final month before the midterms, don't get cocky. If anything, it's time to ramp up the work and pour it on. Check your registration. Vote early. Push your friends and family too. Look for local places to help out. Phone bank and write postcards. Volunteer for Election Day.

A familiar story for anyone who follows @volts.wtf. “The Chronicle spoke to more than half a dozen grid experts…to try to understand why Texas’s notoriously unreliable grid had a remarkably reliable summer. The answer was unanimous: solar panels and batteries.”

Texas shattered energy demand records this summer. Here's why the grid held up.
Texas repeatedly broke electricity demand records this summer, but ERCOT avoided emergencies as booming solar and battery capacity helped keep the grid stable.

This, absolutely sincerely. Most of these guys are doing high crimes and misdemeanors. A bunch of them are involved in waging an illegal, unauthorized war. Congress' investigatory powers are at their *peak* in an impeachment context. So impeach, impeach, impeach.

Labor Day is about unions. Unions built the middle class. You can’t support the middle class without supporting unions. Massively powerful companies & their politicians spend LOTS of money telling you not to support unions. Because it’s the only thing they fear. Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day weekend. Nothing we have was not earned by the blood and sweat of those who have gone before. Enjoy a 40 hour work week? Thank a union. Enjoy PTO? Thank a union. Enjoy safety standards? Thank a union. Enjoy weekends off? Thank a union. Organizing wins. Period.

ust days before casting the vote that clinched Pete Hegseth's confirmation as Secretary of Defense, Republican Sen.
Thom Tillis of North Carolina reportedly urged Hegseth's former sister-in-law to testify against him.
Tillis reassured Danielle Hegseth, the ex-wife of Pete's brother, that her damning statement would likely persuade three Republican senators—Tillis included —to vote against the former Fox News host's confirmation, the Wall Street Journal reported. The senator then voted to approve Hegseth, even as Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska cast their promised "no" votes.
In her sworn statement, which detailed allegations that Hegseth regularly drank to the point of throwing up and passing out, Danielle Hegseth said she was only coming forward, and exposing herself to "public scrutiny," because someone had assured her that her testimony would tip the scales against Hegseth.

The arguments against impeaching Trump next year are all bad and spurious, but they're even weaker as applied to all the other impeachable members of the Cabinet, etc. And impeaching Hegseth for literal murder should be top of the list.

Imagine spending many millions of dollars to train and develop personnel for senior leadership. You spend decades selecting the best, promoting them, selecting the best from that smaller group, and so on, for decades. Then, when you’ve selected the very best of the best… you summarily fire them.

Us choosing feeding people and getting healthcare into places without it as a national policy is almost certainly one of the best things we've done as a country. Was it perfect? Nothing is. But it was much better than alternatives. Honestly we probably don't do enough soft power economy building.
