The most annoying thing about the "should you go to college?" canard is the idea that knowledge and scholarship exist only to produce capital. Knowing stuff is cool. Learning from professors is cool, even if it isn't "investible" in a capitalistic sense. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...

As a marketing major, I love that AI has expanded the uncanny valley of human versus computer created content into the written word. It assures me I'll have a job for a good long while.

Neiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship on Wednesday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas. Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren't allowed to try on clothes without adhering to certain conditions. 🧵
A notice about the Neiman Marcus store opening in downtown Dallas. An old photo of the Dallas flagship.

This is as bad as when preachers claim that women possessed of a "Jezebel spirit" keep making passes at them.

This man is the most powerful person on the planet. God help us.
Interview with Trump:

Have you seen the videos of Mitch McConnell back in the Senate? Do you think he should resign because of his health condition?

It was a disappointment to a lot of Republicans. So that's just—well, Sleepy Joe gave pardons to everybody. He gave them to Fauci. He gave them to this. But you mean I'm not allowed to give them, but Sleepy Joe's allowed to give them? This ain't gonna be much of a story. Here we are doing this. You haven't asked me one fucking positive question. All of this. What about this? What about that? What about that? What about this? All negative. Why are you devoting all this time to the White House? You know how I do, I do that out of my back pocket. I pay for a lot of it, but I fix it because the White House should look like that. It shouldn’t look like—if you would have stood in that balcony and looked at that wall, half the wall was falling. It's actually dangerous. People are walking under, crap was falling off it all the time. Every time it rained, it was leaking, horrible. Now it's perfect, and I would say that I should be given credit for fixing the White House because I'm also doing very well with the war. I'm doing very well with another war that we already won, Venezuela. Do you notice you haven't asked me a question about Venezuela?

I get that it's fun to simply call the President an idiot, but this is literally what decompensation reads like. This reads like a conversation with my dad in the last few months of his life when he was succumbing to complications from glioblastoma.

Campaigner in chief doing the one thing he knows how to do. It's going to be hilarious when he spends the next month ping-ponging between Oklahoma and Alabama as every candidate in a remotely contestable race tries to keep him away while saying they're still loyal Trump supporters.

If everything costs more and nothing is going to stop costing more, then spending now is far better than spending later, even if it's not sustainable. Lemme know how Black Friday goes.

The presumption is that government health care insurance plans are a solution in search of a problem, which is such an interesting thing to say for a person whose health care plan is provided thanks to his job working for the federal government.

The Social Gospel never entirely died. We can bring it back. The Church can care about the working class and the immigrant again. It can leverage the means at its disposal to make the world a better place. It did once before. It can do it again. www.thearda.com/us-religion/...

I dunno, man, maybe it's time to kill Greek life as a university concept. Just seems like places where "boys will be boys" and "girls should spend an obscene amount of money on recruitment videos" don't lead to good outcomes anymore. They probably never really did.

Man, if I were interested in making smoke around the idea that I'm a viable VP candidate in 2028, I'd show a little bit of electability, maybe some early caucus buzz in a crowded "post Trump GOP field." That's why I'd start with mistaking the Atlanta Hawks for the IOWA HAWKEYES.

Now would be a fun time for a Senator in the committee hearing Smith's testimony to use all their time dragging Schmitt, telling him to shut up because it's not his time, and then go back to dragging him. Won't happen; decorum and all of that, but it would be funny.

Jack Smith is a better person than me. I have seen the Hawks play in person in three cities not named Atlanta. If asked under oath if I ever attended a Hawks game, I would unflinchingly say no. Catching perjury charges would be less humiliating than admitting the truth.
