She returns to the same spot repeatedly making photographing easy!An empty dragonfly nymph larva case loosely clinging to a green reed amongst the reed bed. The case has completely dried a mix of brown shades, and the exit point on the back where the dragonfly will have emerged.

From December 2017, when nearly all of my PhD cohort lived in Rothamsted Manor. Waking up to this was simply magical. And yes, we did have a snowball fight on the front lawn (pictured) and made a giant snowman in the garden. ❄️

A wild red kite looking down, flying against a grey cloudy sky, one of a few that call Rothamsted Farm home.Red Kite at a Bird of Prey Centre in Wales is sitting very close to the front of the enclosure.Moulting Red Kite at Bird of Prey Centre, flying up after flung bait. It is pretty majestic, even with how raggedy the moult is in the tail. Apparently, their birds moult more frequently than wild birds tend to.
