FYI a public bug reporter 8 days ago in @biorxivpreprint.bsky.social breaks API calls for abstracts. Im making a news and weather app that also scapres bioarchive latest preprints and been fighting a bug i thought was internal. Just a heads up to anyone building preprint scrapers.

My lima bean harvest for the day. The later harvested magenta type in the middle look more of a lavender tone. A few pods had distinctly brighter seeds. I'll compare these to earlier harvested seeds from the same type.
Lima beans sorted by color. At the top is a pile of bright yellow seeds. In the middle is a pile of lavender seeds. At the bottom are two small piles of brighter magenta-red seeds.

Sweeeet! SpliceCraft is now an official Claude Skill which you can enable anytime as of today. I hope this is of service and I welcome any feedback. Thanks for considering my tools for your labors. I'll be supporting this software for a long long time since I use it daily.

I made SpliceCraft a Claude Skill! Waiting on the manual review but should be live real soon. For anyone not using Claude, I made agent side-doors that give agents full access to all the functions of SpliceCraft directly. Powerful cloning tool, deeply vetted, and made with love💚

Feeling proud of where SpliceCraft is at right now. Still got more details to add and UI jank to solve, but powerful af and open source. Made, with love, for this community. Enjoy. SpliceCraft.bio

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor. This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why. Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.

I thank microbiology for allowing me to modify plants, assemble DNA, express proteins, study catabolism, and show the world the endless gifts and bounties of our oceans. Microbio is the foundation of modern bioengineering regardless of the clade you study in. Highly rec. 10/10

Fly, my pretties! Fly! So far so good and no downgrade to opus 5.1. Seeing the full agent swarm is a good sign. Also caught some convenient possible mixups with linear plasmids. That was on my todo list but never implemented!

Let's see what Opus 5.5 can do. Throwing it at SpliceCraft for a full codebase review. My codebase is deeply hardened and robust af, so anything caught could either be marginal improvements or substantial bug and nothing in between. Will report back!

Everything in my life rn is wildly difficult and the hard hits keep bouncing off the old armor, but every single day I get to be the person I built from scratch, that carved a career in flower design I am proud of. What a privilege to tinker alongside the star sippers every day!

First seeds! The parent I got from a local grower had some dry buds. At first I thought they were too small to be viable but cracked one anyway and lo there be seed. Also a few green buds that are very gravid so ample stocks for later. Gonna start these if I feel better later. 👨🏻‍🌾

I love getting to know a plant. First step on my list is always "can it self pollinate?". This one is important because I can descend ideal traits and stabilize wonky ones. Feels good to start fresh.

Ribbed mussels anchor to cordgrass stems and poop plankton-derived nitrogen into the peat. Their mounds store freshwater and flush toxic sulfide. The grass repays them with shade, anchorage, and cover from crabs. Cordgrass survives drought 5x-25× better where mussels pile up 🦪🌾
