Saw a tweet that said “is it a great album or did it just come out when you were 15” and I have never been able to parse that. Regardless! Threads is astoundingly good. The pacing and intrigue of the first half are captivating. The second half is a testament to sci-fi realism: the post-nuclear apocalypse is not thrilling. There are no slick bandits or cool gun fights. Just decay, starvation, severe illness, loss, and monotony.

I got to work on the Paramount lot for one of my first jobs in LA, and it was amazing and humbling to walk past plaques on soundstages that detailed which films shot there and when. And to remember that as much as this is a business, it’s also in service of art and humanity. FUCK David Ellison.
