The Trump administration has redirected tens of millions in U.S. military aid from Europe and the Middle East to conservative-leaning governments in Latin America, according to three U.S. officials reported by The Washington Post. www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

Trump defies Democrats, diverts aid for Europe to Latin America instead
The diverted funds include tens of millions of dollars that Congress approved for countries affected by the war in Ukraine.

Pete is lost in terms of modern war. I use the example of this outgunned Ukrainian army officer who successfully terrorized a Russian unit for weeks because she "did the math." At the time, someone commented, "yeah, in combat, 'I did the math' beats 'I can do 100 pushups' every time."
Ukrainian female soldier: Okay, I said the idea is this: There is enough time to empty one full can of 32 grenades and be gone by the time the return mortar fire reaches us. I did the math.

The death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment in 2026 by the plain meaning of those terms, but if we're not willing to go that far we should at least recognize that attempting execution with phamceuticals less reliable than a bullet to the head sure as hell is.

One, this hilariously outs who all got the talking points in advance and how blatantly they parrot those. Two, Schmitt really thought today he'd launch himself to the VP nomination and with that a decent shot at the presidency down the line. Instead this is the only thing he'll be remembered for.
