Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.

Once again it needs to be stressed that this is something happening across the board in Irish immigration- changes in practice leading to refusals that would not have occurred in previous years. We are in a very dark time for the rights of people migrating to Ireland and their families.

That cannot be allowed to happen. We’ve had enough mindless, smirking destruction of our biodiversity. Why do the civil war parties insist on pursuing outdated and destructive solutions for flood management?

Making the objections of Garvaghey Road residents to a parade that 11 people were murdered over, symbolic of the what a United Ireland would be like by those who are rolled out by the state media, over and over - as sensible voices, is some of the worst faith bullshit I’ve seen - & the bar is low

People casually using genAI instead of their own creativity or capacity for thought genuinely feels like a huge values difference now, on a very fundamental level. We do not hold the same things to be important or worthwhile.

This story has really annoyed me. These tech billionaires LARPing as aristocrats bestowing their noblesse oblige on the local peasants. Just think about how many sports clubs you could fund if you taxed Facebook properly.

13 Monsters Good And True I think there are so many genuine monsters in the world that I am consoling myself by drawing little monsters who are good.
Drawing of 13 little 'monsters', rather cute little critters who wouldn't harm a fly, in fact they'd probably give it a bowl of milk and a tiny bed for the night.

Surely Irish journalists will be asking Jennifer Carroll MacNeill about the status of her links to this man who proudly participated in chants at the match on Sunday? #SpéirGhorm

Incredible that a fucking Lord (appointed by Boris Johnson) who quit from Labour before he could be investigated over sexual harassment and wants to ban pro-Palestine marches thinks anyone in Ireland would give a solitary shit about what he thinks.

Are you looking to be outraged, are you? www.theguardian.com/uk/1999/jul/...
So last weekend in Portadown, when Orangemen were receiving plaudits for restraint, an American woman observer on Garvaghy Road was pulled over a wall and hospitalised by marchers. Saturday evening mass at St John's was disturbed by bandsmen who decided that the roundabout was a traditional and, of course, endless route. One of their newer traditions was to shout the name of Rosemary Nelson, along with those of Robert Hamill, who was kicked to death two years ago and Gavin Tennyson, one of several young Catholics who have committed suicide on the estate in recent months. A year under siege has taken its toll on people's spirits.

I cannot ever forget how the marching bands refused to be silent, as requested, going past the house where the mother of those three murdered boys took refuge in the weeks after her unthinkable loss. A small detail that exposes everything this march is for.

Yeah, so I think we're going to need to know who had a tantrum & abused the only player brave enough to fully stand against genocide.
Screenshot from article: might affect their careers at club level. One source close to an Irish player said that the situation had become so difficult that the Irish Government should step in and make the decision for the players. Some turned on Bazunu, one of whom is understood to have abused him directly to his face.

I hope that Gavin Bazunu knows just how hugely proud the Irish public are of him. A brave man for taking this moral stand alone & knowingly opening himself up to potentially negative consequences, a credit to his family.

Said it earlier but the pro footballer pipeline which takes immature teenage boys, deifies them and then fast-tracks them to professional status with very little education continues to result in people with little understanding of life outside themselves and they end up very regretful in later years

I have no idea what’ll happen with the lads but I am glad they are taking it seriously. It should never have been allowed to get this far. The neck of Martin saying that Palestine has been failed but not backing the cancellation of the game. A failure in leadership both in government and the FAI.

In Ireland, "Respiratory Virus Season" is officially considered to run from Oct to May, with reporting & vaccination programmes geared around that. But...the Covid wave that's currently overwhelming hospitals took root in *JULY* and exploded when schools returned. "Season" is an outdated concept.
