What people need to remember about Florida is that rural Florida is very much The South. And it's also predominately white evangelical. Southern white evangelicals believe it is their religious obligation to vote and to vote for the GOP.

I like it when the government is like software that just runs in the background that I forget about until it pops up to tell me about a new feature. This administration is nothing but error codes and blue screens.

So fun fact about lions… the pride only allows the male to stay so long as he behaves. Prides have been known to chase off males who become a problem and there documented cases of lionesses killing males. It’s usually in retaliation for unwanted mating attempts or in defense of cubs.

Rep. John Conyers, for those who didn't already know. And just to make it explicit for the SEO. Bernie Sanders stole his signature policy plank from a Black colleague because he's a half-pound of white supremacist in a five-pound bag. Bernie Sanders has never been shit, and never will be.
Rep. John Conyers: black and white photo of a young Black male politician with short, textured hair and a mustache, wearing a suit, a striped shirt, and a silk necktie, standing in front of a bank of microphones.

One company in my former industry just had a big layoff then another announced bankruptcy which leaves its employees - my friends - and vendors unpaid. It was an ESOP so it's more complicated than just not getting paychecks. And the vendors may also go under without payment. What a mess.

About 15 years ago in rural Texas a man walked in on one of his farm employees sexually assaulting his daughter and beat the guy to death. He was never even arrested. Most Texans said his reaction was understandable. That’s who’s voting.

He talks about this in his book too! Many constituents don't necessarily agree with every stance he takes but they respect him because he stands up for what he believes in and doesn't cave.

He talks about how and why he won in his book! He was AG of the state and constantly filed lawsuits which triggered Gov. Matt Bevin so much that he decided to publicly feud with Beshear. This was also happening when he was personally arguing and winning a LOT of cases. And it made Beshear popular 😂
Kentucky could not take another four years of Trump Lite, but what made me the logical choice to run against him was the way in which, from the day I took office as AG, the new Governor put me in his crosshairs and did not relent even once over my four years in office. I can honestly say Trump Lite deserves some of the credit for my victory over him. If he had simply ignored me, most Kentuckians might have as well. generally speaking, the Attorney General is too far down the political food chain for people to pay them much attention. It's the Governor who gets all the headlines. If the Attorney General holds a press conference, he hopes to get one or two cameras. A Governor gets them all.But through Trump Lite's constant verbal attacks, almost always on a Friday afternoon, he raised my visibility up to a level where the two of us running against each other in the next election was inevitable. Through his actions, the front page of every newspaper would carry photos of us both. I told my staff that, while having a Governor attack you every week hurts, he was actually doing us a favor. When I wanted to make them laugh, I would play Destiny's Child's "Say My Name."

Agreed. And whether they realize it or not, it shows how unserious they are about moving the country left. To actually move the country left means flipping seats which requires massive amounts of money in the general election.

Every one of these progressive candidates needs to tell Saint Bernard to put up or shut up. Either he helps fund their campaign if they agree to refuse corporate pac money or they take the corporate pac money. Campaigns aren't run on air.

I just read a LinkedIn post by a CEO of a company who gobbled up private equity money to acquire competitors and lay off their staff saying that the layoffs are harming the entire industry. Laying off project managers in the middle of projects makes them look bad and it costs them clients.

I can’t do the iced coffee debate again. A woman said “if you’re early in your career and interviewing at a Fortune 500 company, maybe leave the iced coffee in the car bc it’s messy and distracting” and people who love to argue with everything lost their minds.

Andy Beshear has an entire chapter in his new book about backing the LGBTQ community and it's worth a read. He talks about how the anti-trans ads were tested in KY during his election and how vetoing anti-trans legislation didn't hurt his reelection campaign.
However the anti-trans ads had less to do with Kentucky and more to do with the fact that we were in an election. Terry Schilling, the head of the APP, decided to test the ads in our election to determine whether or not the issue could win votes for the Republican Party. Earlier in the summer of 2019, Scholling had partnered with a behavioral science firm to try to find a wedge issue that resonated with suburban voters. That's right. The anti-trans ads did not come out of some firmly held conviction but was a purely political stance. Their research landed on trans athletes, specifically trans women, competing in women's sports. They tested their theory in the 2019 Kentucky gubernatorial general election. Although I won, APP considered their test successful, because their research showed the ads delivered thirteen thousand votes for Trump Lite, which made the race tighter than anticipated. You might hask how, in this political climate, I was reelected after vetoing the anti-trans bill. Because people respect authentic faith. The day I vetoed it, I explained my why. I said I believe all children are children of God and that I don't want people picking on these kids. I then countered their anti-trans ads with commercials talking about good jobs, healthcare, roads and bridges, public education, and public safety. The result? The biggest win of my career. So don't tell me the Democratic Party should stop fighting for the rights of all people. Just explain your authentic why, and then get back to focusing on issues that touch all our lives on a daily basis.

This is what it looks like when someone is trying to break the system. He knows how insurance works and he knows it's necessary to for people to pay in premiums without filing claims. If you have more claims going out than premiums coming in, that's insolvency.
