The current Conservative party is simply not intellectually equipped to handle Burnham's way of doing politics. That is the bleak reality of it. They'll assume they can do more damage by boycotting and then branding it a stitch up.

It’s interesting that after years of complaints about Starmer not knowing/saying what he stands for (justified imo) and cries of “we just want a PM who has a vision for the country “, turns out that’s not just what we want.

As a very basic thing, we as citizens should not accept the presence of a private army of masked racist thugs on the streets of our towns... intimidating others and threatening to overthrow the state... There are some fairly obvious precedents for this stuff.

The story of a brave reporter infiltrating the migrant boats is a perfectly tooled piece of propaganda designed to give Nigel Farage a new version of the same old story.

Important, because Farage's defence for not declaring Harborne's £5m 'gift' has always been very specific: he did not decide to stand until 3rd of June. Turns out this deal was struck mid-May (confirmed by RefUK) and facilitated by Farage's other big donor, convicted felon 'Posh' George Cotrell. 🧐
Nigel Farage struck Reform comeback deal long before election
Supervised by the convicted fraudster George Cottrell, the agreement undermines Farage's claim about when he decided to return to politics

Richard Tice was demoted to deputy leader when Farage returned in 2024
Gabriel Pogrund, Emanuele Midolo, Venetia Menzies
Saturday August 1 2026, 8.15pm, The Sunday Times
Nigel Farage struck a secret deal to return as leader of Reform UK months before the general election.
Farage negotiated the pact with Richard Tice, then the leader, in March and April 2024. George Cottrell, the convicted fraudster who had been secretly bankrolling Farage, supervised the discussions.
Under the terms of the deal, once Farage became leader Reform would repay or write off more than £1 million in outstanding loans it had received from Tice's company.
The deal was first presented by Farage and Cottrell to the party's treasurer in mid-May. Its existence undermines the Reform leader's claim that he had no intention until June 2024 of returning to politics. Farage has used this to defend his failure to declare donations made to him in the year before he was elected as an MP, which triggered two parliamentary investigations.

Burnham: Social Care is a huge challenge that demands a proper longterm solution. It can be done if parties work together. Most parties: PM is right and we'll work with him for a solution. Tories: PM is right and we'll work with him for a solution. BUT ONLY IF HE CAN DO IT FOR FREE. Grow TF up.

"I am the most physically and verbally attacked public figure or politician of modern times" is a quite a thing for Nigel Farage to say when two MPs have been murdered in the last decade, Stephen Timms was stabbed twice in the stomach in 2010 and there was a plot to murder Labour MP Rosie Cooper

I guess Suella simply forgot that May, Johnson, Truss, and Sunak all became PM without standing as the Tory Party leader in a general election. Perhaps it's a little harder to explain why she forgot that she too attempted to become de facto PM in precisely the same way when Johnson resigned.

Everyone on X and elsewhere who called for a violent response should be charged with incitement. Everyone involved in the pogrom should be locked up with exemplary sentences. Govt should make it clear that will be the response in future anywhere else. Enough.

A Tory peer has just told Today that "We need to get back to a form of policing that is more colour-blind". When was that, precisely? The idea that we *used* to live in a colour-blind society, until minorities got special privileges, goes against *everything* we know of the history of policing.

It is *incredibly* shabby that the Green Party cited "family and personal reasons" for their Makerfield candidate dropping out, given it was actually in relation to sharing antisemitic posts. Had a right-wing party done the same, they'd be getting called out loudly here for it. And rightly so.
A series of posts detailing reporting from The Times on the Green candidate sharing posts calling antisemitic attacks in London a "false flag".

It would be great if the government could spend some time trying to solve the many, many real problems facing the UK – instead of imaginary ones. UK retail operates on *tiny* margins – averaging around 4p in the £1. Supermarkets are cheap and efficient: food is expensive because inputs cost more.
