RIP Jeffery Archer.
Simon Farnaby as Julian Fawcett MP in Ghosts. A character partly inspired by corporate Tory MPs in the 1980s like Alan Clark and Jeffery Archer

Always a privilege as a parent to pass on some wisdom, but today's advice may save my 9yo son's life one day. Told mum would be angry about something a boy said to him today, he said: 'I'll just tell her to calm down or take a deep breath.'

Not sure it's wise to be rushing the development of soulless entities than can badly mimic human intelligence and empathy when the ones we already have are so hard to get rid of - even when you *do* have a vote.

Oh god, they did @brainmage.bsky.social's poem.
A prom about proper bin men

You kids today, with 'net and games,
I fought in World War 2
You're not content with airfix planes,
I fought in World War 2
In my day (nineteen ninety three),
We didn't have what's yours
Things were much simpler, much less woke,
I fought in World War 2
School lunches, Oh! Pink custard too,
Four channels on TV
Not like the iphones you have now,
Was simpler then, you see?
"Image Macros" were all the rage,
There was no twitch TV
I fought in World War 2, respect
The man who's forty three

IS IR PLAUSIBLE THAT AGENTS OF A FOREIGN STATE, FUNDED AND PROVIDED WITH PLAUSIBLE IDENTITIES WOULD, RATHER THAN TRAVEL NORMALLY, RISK THEIR LIVES AT GREAT EXPENSE ON ILLEGAL SMALL BOAT CROSSINGS?? LONG MAY FARAGE REMAIN STUPID AND OBVIOUS IN HIS APPEALS TO THE INTELLECTUALLY STRESSED.

Darkly amusing how people who hate Communism and brand all forms of state compassion Communist are pushing AI which, by theoretically allowing everyone access to the same level of skill, knowledge and creativity (spoiler: it doesn't), amounts to no less than intellectual Communism.

The 2015 version of An Inspector Calls is on BBC4. I did it at school. I felt so stupid when I realised "Inspector Goole" was as in ghoul. I vowed never to fall for such an obvious and heavy-handed literary trick again. Cut to: a year later watching Angel Heart. "Who's this Louis Cyphre character?"

Liar. Small boat crossings peaked under Johnson in 2022 reaching 46,000 in 2022. In current year they are 18,565 and falling. Also prior to Boris Johnson's Brexit there were none.
It's a disaster, and it can all be traced to
Labour ideology. Burnham has no mandate
from the people. He has no real ideas, and
no plan,

Johnson on X
