For all the talk that this dude did not harm anyone, I can almost guarantee you that, for every Arday, there are dozens of other POC academics who did deserve the recognition that he got, but got passed over because they did not market themselves as effectively as him, and did not fit expectations.

Baker is right. I don't think I've ever seen The Economist publish such an embarrassing piece as this. It takes aim at Acemoglu. But it really tarnishes The Economist, not him.

Brilliant, the gaming industry already damaged generations of men with unrealistic physical and emotional expectations from the opposite sex, it's only fair for the industry to now damage women too. Gender equality at its best.

i don’t think there’s a much beef between argentina and england as the media are making out; none of these players were even alive when the drug-addict maradona cheated in a quarter final, let alone when argentina’s fascist junta failed with their illegal invasion of british sovereign territory

Late to upgrade to Tahoe, and Spotlight just plain sucks. The usual functionality for it was to switch to the a desired app by invoking it and typing the App's name, in Sequoia, it was quick. Now it searches for everything under the sun but Apps (even disabling search for everything else).
Tahoe new features.

perennial reminder that this typographic thing: * * * is called a "dinkus" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinkus
Wikipedia entry for dinkus

In typography, a dinkus is a typographic device or convention that typically consists of three spaced asterisks or bullet symbols in a horizontal row, e.g.   ∗ ∗ ∗   or   • • •  . The device has a variety of uses, and it usually denotes an intentional omission or a logical "break" of varying degree in a written work. This latter use is similar to a subsection, and it indicates that the subsequent text should be re-contextualized. Such a dinkus typically appears centrally aligned on a line of its own with vertical spacing before and after the device. The dinkus has been in use in various forms since c. 1850.[1][2] Historically, the dinkus was often represented as an asterism, ⁂, though this has fallen out of favor and is now nearly obsolete.
