TALLAHASSEE, July 26th, 1837.
Civilization In Florida.
We have had the most bloody fight that has ever taken place in this coantry, and with people too who should be friends. The circumstances are these.
On Saturday last, there was a shooting match at Shell Point. Some time during the day a dispute arose between Macon and one of the Walkers. Macon and Haughton were previously prepared. Macon kad four pistols and a double-barrelled gun. A fight ensued.-Four of the Walkers, Arthur Macon, Haughton, bie nephews, and James Howard fought against them.-However, I have made a mistake about the Walkers :
It was John, Nathan, William Walker and one Grisset, Walker's overseer. Macon shot a buck load through the body of Grisset, and he died shortly after, and Macon got so severe a cut in the abdomen that he died on Monday night; Haughton lies in a very precarious state, but it is thought that all the Walkers and James Howard will survive, though they are severely wounded.
