Amy Spitalnick, chief executive of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, applauded the report for outlining policies that rely on an array of government agencies, but she questioned what she considered its limited description of antisemitism.

An introduction to a section entitled “Statistics and polling on antisemitism” notes that American Jews have reported a marked rise in antisemitism in the past decade, pointing to the 2017 white nationalist march in Charlottesville, Va., and the 2018 Tree of Life Synagogue massacre in Pittsburgh, which was perpetrated by an man active in far-right extremist online communities. It also notes that antisemitism, and acts of antisemitic violence, have only grown in recent years. It makes no mention of acts motivated by anti-Israel sentiment since the war in Gaza began.

“Obviously there is a very real threat of right-wing antisemitism,” Ms. Spitalnick said. “The report should also recognize that in the last few years, we’ve seen increasing violence targeting Jews under the guise of protesting Israel.”
