This is down to Farage. Leaders establish the culture of an organisation. If they don’t, they aren’t leading. If they can’t, they aren’t fit to lead. Either way, Farage cannot escape responsibility for the culture of the party he leads.

If Putin stops fighting, the war ends. If Zelensky stops fighting then his country will be occupied, leaders murdered, language banned, businesses stolen, children kidnapped. That's what happens in Russian-occupied Ukraine.

Today I found out that Umberto Eco crafted a version of this meme in the 1980s…
Beware the
alibi of photocopies ! Photocopies are indis-
pensable instruments. They allow you to keep with you a text you have already read in the library, and to take home a text you have not read yet. But a set of photocopies can become an alibi. A student makes hundreds of pages of photocopies and takes them home, and the manual labor he exercises in doing so gives him the impression that he possesses the work. Owning the photocopies exempts the student from actually reading them. This sort of vertigo of accumulation, a neocapitalism of information, happens to many. Defend yourself from this trap: as soon as you have the photocopy, read it and annotate it immediately. If you are not in a great hurry, do not photocopy something new before you own (that is, before you have read and annotated) the previous set of photocopies. There are many things that I do not know because I photocopied a text and then relaxed as if I had read it.

Direct fossil fuel propaganda from @lbc.co.uk in support of oil and gas extraction. Using Adura's own marketing as your headline goes beyond malfeasance.
An LBC headline that reads "Rejecting Rosebank and Jackdaw could cost UK economy £10.8 billion, study warns". The subhead reads: "Adura, the company behind both projects, commissioned research on their impact for the UK"

Robert Jenrick sparks huge row over English identity - 'millions aren't English'

The Reform UK MP has waded into a row with the Conservatives over what it means to be English, suggesting "millions" of people living in Britain don't qualify.Suella Braverman

@SuellaBraverman

As I've said before, I'm not English.

I'm proud to be British. My family and ancestors have a link to Britain which spans centuries.

But in no way are we English. Yes, I was born in England, speak English and support the England football team. And indeed, I love England and the English people.

But to say I'm English is to take a 'laissez-faire, anything-goes' attitude to ethnicity, citizenship and identity. It also denies me my Asian heritage. The liberals (many of them in today's Conservative Party) take this cosmopolitan approach to Englishness. They're terrified of being called racist so they say that anyone, as long as they're born here, can be English.

ALL of this. But Nigel Farage knows better than the head of MI5 apparently
MI5 chief Ken McCallum said today that
Moscow did attempt to interfere in the
2016 Brexit referendum with anti-EU
coverage on RT and Sputnik media and
via troll social media accounts. But there
was a big difference between "what may
have been attempted and what actually
resulted", he added.

The head of the Security Service said that
he agreed strongly with what the prime
minister had said on Sunday and Monday,
when he raised the issue of attempted
Russian interference a decade ago
though Burnham then backed off when he
was challenged by the Conservatives as to
whether this meant he regarded the Brexit
vote as illegitimate

McCallum did not put any new evidence
into the public domain but cited already
known concerns about Russian
broadcasters who "came in pretty
strongly around the time of the
referendum" in favour of Brexit. He also
said that "there was a second line of

My heart breaks for mathematicians whose lives and careers are being destroyed by AI — and especially this PhD student, who doesn’t even know he is a poet
Kai Shaikh, a Ph.D. student in mathematics at the University of Toronto, also currently at SLMath, observed that theorems are easy to use as benchmarks, but that they capture little of the wonderment at the heart of math. "Just like a photograph of a mile marker can't provide much of the value of actually going on a hike," he said,
"it would seem to me that proofs without stories, or even stories without struggle or mystery, and first glimpses of strange beasts, are not very meaningful or valuable to us humans."
