I'd like to once again remind you for #BannedBooksWeek that Huckleberry Finn and Animal Farm don't need you to go out of your way to read them. Instead, support a book, and author, who a ban can actually hurt.

If someone dropped DeNiro's team in Ronin (1998) into a place where buildings grow and your neighbours are other species, and made them fight over a delightfully grouchy old man instead of a shiny suitcase, it might read like WICKHILLS. (Apologies for the Ronin spoilers)

I'm kinda fully over that "the British conquered the world for spices and don't use any of them" joke because for one, you cannot recycle material for 5 straight generations and get a laugh worth a damn but also because in order to make it you have to agree with Tommy Robinson about who is British

My third novel, HERO COME HOME, officially has a cover! Preorderable from the usual places us.macmillan.com/books/978125...
The cover of my third novel, HERO COME HOME. Four human figures centred, the main image being that of a bearded man looking back over his shoulder (that's Oro, the protagonist), with a circle of symbols behind him. We can see a swan and a key. In the foreground are three people: two women, one with a mysterious marking? scar? who knows!? on her cheek and the other carrying a sword, flanking an older, balding man holding up a pistol. The possibly-scarred woman looks ever so slightly amused, and that is certainly very like her. Everybody else is not happy to be here, or indeed, anywhere

There’s always going to be someone better, faster, and more skilled than I. But no one is going to have the same artistic voice as mine. Creating isn’t a competition, it’s a form of communication and connection. It’s a vulnerable thing, but it’s beautiful that way.

I understand that most people using the word "vizier" as a fantasy trope aren't actually aware of its etymological origin, and I'm not claiming I've never done it myself, but "we say the word 'advisor' in Arabic when we want to denote that the advisor in question is evil" still isn't a great look.
